About this app

Stop looking for the remote when your phone rings! Just say "Alexa, ask Quick Remote to pause".

Quick Remote helps you control your Roku with voice commands! Play or pause the movie. Rewind or fast forward your favorite shows. Start Netflix or CBS News channel. Navigate Roku's menu by saying go left, right or select!

It can follow multiple commands at once and also control multiple Rokus! You can even ask for it to wait for your next command.

This app works with the following Alexa powered devices from Amazon:

Amazon Echo : http://amzn.to/2AdVmWk
Echo Plus: http://amzn.to/2zs2aCV
Echo Spot: http://amzn.to/2iUR81J
Echo Show: http://amzn.to/2xU191X

Alexa Hands-free Fire HD Tablet: http://amzn.to/2w80ZmP
Amazon Dash Wand with Alexa: http://amzn.to/2uRHsJh
Echo Look: http://amzn.to/2vC1nKl

No hub or additional hardware required! You will never touch the Roku remote again!!

Quick Start:

In Amazon Alexa app or alexa.amazon.com:

• Enable the Quick Remote skill
• Link to Quick Remote using your Amazon account
• Using 'Login with Amazon' your email will only be used to link with the mobile app

In your phone:

• Install this mobile app in your phone
• Connect your phone to the same Wi-Fi network as your Roku device
• In your phone's Wi-Fi settings set it to keep Wi-Fi ALWAYS on during sleep
• Select the Roku device you want to control in the devices menu
• Login with Amazon using the same account as your Alexa app -- your email will only be used for linking

IMPORTANT: Your phone's Wi-Fi needs to ALWAYS stay on during sleep for it to receive commands from Alexa devices and send it to your Roku. Also, if your phone has trouble connecting with your Roku then turn off battery optimization for this app in Android Settings > Battery Optimization

Back at your Alexa device:

• Say "Alexa, ask Quick Remote to pause" -- Voila! your Roku will do as you say!
• Say "Alexa, ask Quick Remote to go home, right, down and select" -- it will follow multiple commands at once!
• Say "Alexa, ask Quick Remote to start Netflix and wait" -- it will start a channel and wait for your next command!
• Say "Alexa, ask Quick Remote to switch to Family Room Roku" -- it will even control multiple Rokus!

The remote does not receive instructions from Amazon Alexa like it claims. It has no on or off button to even manually turn on the TV. I did get Alexa to turn off the TV but it would not turn it back on. It does not recognize any of the Roku apps such as YouTube, Vudu, Netflix and so on. It also does not recognize any request to scroll through any of the channels, this makes it useless for voice commands. It will however play and pause the movies once you have gotten to them but in my opinion if I've have to go through all that to get to the movie I can push one more button to play and pause.

It works, and fairly well with a good connection and the right settings. You get 50 commands per month, then you have to pay $9.99 per year which isn't terrible. Setting changes are needed to keep it from failing commands which seem to be included in the 50. Should display how many are left on the free version. Uses pop-up ads instead of banners and no power button so the remote UI is unusable. Would pay if the commands were shortened like "Alexa QR turn on TV." Too wordy as is.

Thank you for the feedback! Unfortunately, Alexa requires the full name to invoke the skill unlike Google Home, which provides shortcuts/routines. Prompts to find out the number of available free commands is a great idea, which we'll build in a future release. Please email us and we'll be glad to extend your trial period.

The app was OK to launch apps on my roku, pause and play. However it does not make it clear when you load the app that you are only allowed 50 commands per month unless you pay for a subscription. I used them up within the first couple days of experimenting to see what it could do. Not only was it not upfront on the limited commands but I'm still not sure of the premium cost. Overall I am not impressed with the quality of the app or the hidden limits.

Thank you for the feedback! The subscription info is in the app description and the price is listed in your local currency in the upgrade menu. Please let us know how we could improve the quality. We'll be glad to update in future releases.
