Version 1.9 fixes the problems of the previous version. This app seems to be the best replacement for the Google Photos app. It has no nagging about cloud services or backup. No extra clicks to get to your local files. It may eventually suggest you pay their "thank you" fee. But even with the $3.49 price it seems better than any free options I've seen. Aves is the only other good option I've found. Pixel 6 Pro, Android 16.

Works well as a viewer, but nothing more. DO NOT use it for batch renaming. It may, or may not permanently delete some images in the process and in one case actually brought images in from a different file and renamed them to the new file. Totally unsat. It is, however, one of only two gallery apps I have found that opens .avif files.

Great photo/video gallery app with no ads, it also allows you to edit photos with its own editor. I like that there are pre-defined aspect ratios to crop the image with, but I dislike that you have to manually set a resolution value to re-size the image-- if there was an easy short list of values to choose from (like to decrease the original image size to 20% 40% 60% 80% size) it would be easier to use without thinking about the right resolution to use.
