HazeFacet compares walking and cycling route alternatives and departure windows using hourly modeled air quality data.
Built for adults planning trips through traffic pollution, smoke, dust, or ozone, it keeps route time, distance, pollutant contribution, coverage, and source timestamps visible together. Use it as an air quality route planner when the route and hour both matter.
COMPARE ROUTES AND DEPARTURE TIMES
Enter an origin and destination, review the place matches, and choose walking or cycling. HazeFacet compares alternative route geometry across up to four hourly departure windows. Duration stays beside the relative modeled pollution estimate so one number never hides the tradeoff.
REVIEW FIVE POLLUTANT LANES
Inspect modeled PM2.5, PM10, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, and carbon monoxide values. Each comparison includes coverage, source timestamps, missing-value notes, and confidence. Open the Evidence dossier for route samples, pollutant contribution, and provenance.

SAVE A PRIVATE ROUTE WATCH
Name a recurring trip and keep its comparison in app-private storage. A watch can refresh over the network on its schedule. Notifications appear only for a watch the user enables. Old evidence keeps its original timestamp.
WORK WITH INTERRUPTIONS
A new comparison needs a connection. If a request fails, HazeFacet can reopen a matching cached snapshot and label its age. Saved watches, snapshots, methodology, and PDF export remain in the local workspace.
HOW THE EVIDENCE IS MADE
The service reviews selected places, requests mode-specific route geometry, samples hourly public pollutant fields along each route, and aligns them with expected trip progress. Results are comparative planning estimates. Provenance identifies OpenStreetMap contributors, the walking or cycling routing service, and Open-Meteo forecast data.
PRIVACY AND DATA USE
Planning sends place-search text and selected origin and destination coordinates over HTTPS to the owner-operated HazeFacet service on Cloudflare. It forwards the request data needed by the named OpenStreetMap and Open-Meteo providers. Application code creates no account and retains no request body, exact route, or route history on the backend.
A one-way client key derived from the connection IP is held only in Cloudflare's 60-second rate-limit counter. Public place results and coarse forecast cells may be cached without a user identifier; exact routes are not cached. A saved watch keeps its 24 most recent snapshots and automatically removes older watch snapshots; remaining local data stays in app-private storage until deleted. The app contains no advertising, analytics, authentication, payment, or social SDK.
INFORMATIONAL SCOPE
HazeFacet is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Results are modeled estimates for comparing returned options, not personal exposure measurements, medical advice, public-authority alerts, emergency guidance, or a guarantee. Follow local authorities and a qualified health professional when needed.
