About this app

Action Dot puts a small floating button on top of everything. Tap it and the shortcuts you actually use are right there, in whatever app you happen to be in.

No reaching for the top of the screen, no hunting through quick settings, no awkward button combination. One tap and you are done.

If reaching the far corner of a tall phone is awkward, or a swipe gesture is hard to make reliably, the dot puts those same actions wherever your thumb already rests.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Drag the dot wherever you like. It settles against the edge and fades out so it stays out of your way.
2. Tap it to open your panel of shortcuts.
3. Tap a shortcut to run it. The panel closes on its own.

Press and hold the dot to open Action Dot itself.

WHAT YOU CAN PUT IN THE PANEL

System
Home, back, recent apps, notification shade, quick settings, split screen, screenshot, lock screen, power menu.

Media
Volume panel, volume up, volume down, play or pause, next track, previous track. The media controls reach whichever app is currently playing.

Device
Flashlight, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera, voice assistant, system settings.

Apps
Open any app on your phone. You can also add a shortcut into Action Dot's own settings, or one that switches the dot off.

MAKE IT YOURS

Add as many shortcuts as you want, then drag them into the order you like. The panel grows to fit and scrolls once it gets tall.

Pick a panel three, four or five tiles wide.

Set the size of the dot.

Set how faint it goes while you are not using it, right down to barely there.

Turn edge snapping on or off.

Turn the small haptic tap on or off.

Bring the dot back by itself after a restart.

ABOUT PERMISSIONS

Action Dot asks for two things, and it explains both before asking.

Display over other apps. This is what lets the dot sit above your other apps. Without it there is nothing to tap.

Accessibility. Android only lets an accessibility service press home, go back, open recents, take a screenshot and lock the screen. Action Dot uses it for exactly that and nothing else. It does not read your screen, it does not see what you type, and it does not track which apps you open. The service is registered so that it cannot retrieve window content at all.

Would rather not switch accessibility on? Skip it. Everything in the media, device and apps groups still works without it.

Action Dot has no internet permission, so nothing can leave your phone. No account to create, no data collected. Your shortcuts and settings stay on the device.
