Switched to Immich 6 months ago. It took about a week to upload 60k (0.6 TB) of photos and videos to the local NAS (not the upload itself, but mainly post upload processing - due to slow NAS). Once done, only good experience, it's smooth, no crashes, updated multiple times with no issues. Except for one time when the mobile app got an auto update, while the server had the previous version. All good after updating the server. Great work.

I decided to try Immich because Google photos was becoming too expensive for me. Even without all of the editing tools, the interface is very similar. Setting up the server is not a small task, but once it's up and running, the app works great for backup and viewing your image and video assets. I had an issue with delete not working, but found it was a permissions problem on the server, not the app itself. Can't wait to see what else the dev team has in mind to keep enhancing it.

By far the best self-hostable privacy-friendly Google photos replacement. Easily sync, search, browse photos/videos via high performance timeline on your phone or on a PC browser that feels right at home to any Google photos user. Only thing missing to me is a photo editor that lets me crop, rotate, and adjust saturation, brightness, highlights, etc. so I can finally uninstall the G photos app.
