About this app

Briskwire™ moves any file between two Android phones using nothing but a screen and a camera, or a back-to-back NFC tap. No accounts. No cloud. No internet permission. Works in airplane mode.

Built for the moments and places where Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and cellular aren't an option — backcountry, secure sites, airplane mode, no-Wi-Fi conferences, clinics, vaults.


TWO OFFLINE TRANSPORTS

• ANIMATED QR CODES — the sender displays a fast sequence of QR frames; the receiver's camera reads them. Works on any device with a screen and a camera.

• NFC TAP — hold the two phones back-to-back and the file streams directly over short-range radio. Faster for small-to-medium files when both devices have NFC.

Pick QR or NFC on every send. NFC stays visible but greyed out on devices without it — QR works everywhere.

DETECT — UNIVERSAL BARCODE SCANNER

• Reads QR, Aztec, Codabar, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, Data Matrix, EAN-8, EAN-13, ITF, PDF417, UPC-A, UPC-E
• Locks onto every code in frame at once — no centring required
• Group scans into named sessions; rename, delete, or export to CSV
• Runs fully on-device via ML Kit — no cloud lookups


SMART ANDROID ACTION HANDOFFS

Decoded codes don't just sit there. Briskwire reads the type and hands off to the right system app via Android Intents:

• URL → opens in your default browser
• Phone number → opens the dialer pre-filled
• Email (mailto) → opens your mail app with To, Subject, Body filled in
• SMS → opens messaging with the number and body ready
• Geo coordinates → opens in Maps
• vCard / MeCard contact → Add to contacts with all fields parsed
• VEVENT / VCALENDAR → Add to calendar with title, time, location, notes
• Wi-Fi network → Connect pre-fills SSID and password into Android Settings

Every handoff is local. No third-party APIs called.


GENERATE TYPED CODES

Build codes from typed fields, not just free text:

• Pick a type: Wi-Fi · Contact · SMS · Email · Calendar · Geo · URL · Text
• Briskwire builds a valid QR, Aztec, Code 128 (and more)
• Tune format, size, and error-correction level
• Save the image, share, send to a printer, or regenerate

PRIVACY POSTURE

• Briskwire does NOT declare the INTERNET permission. Android cannot let the app reach a server, ever.
• No accounts. No cloud. No telemetry. No analytics. No crash reports.
• Three install-time permissions: Camera, NFC, Change Wi-Fi state (only used for the Connect action on a scanned Wi-Fi QR).
• Privacy policy bundled with the app — nothing fetched online to display it.
