About this app

EggSPEED is the Android app for reading and configuring UART-version Bafang BBS01, BBS02, and BBSHD mid-drive controllers - on factory OEM Bafang firmware or on BBS-FW (the open-source alternative firmware from danielnilsson9/bbs-fw) - straight from your phone, over a simple USB-OTG cable. No PC, no Bluetooth dongle, no separate software required.

DUAL FIRMWARE SUPPORT
Switch between factory OEM Bafang firmware and BBS-FW right in Settings. EggSPEED speaks both configuration protocols natively, with dedicated screens matching BBS-FW's own official configuration tool.

LIVE COCKPIT
See speed, power, current, voltage, distance, trip, average speed, Wh/km energy usage, and estimated range - all updated live while you ride, on either firmware. An optional GPS speed overlay shows your phone's own GPS reading alongside the controller's. Tap any value for a short explanation of exactly how it's calculated.

LIVE MONITORING CHARTS
A dedicated Monitoring tab plots power, current, voltage, and speed over time, each independently toggleable, with a 10-minute rolling history.

BATTERY SAG MEASUREMENT
A passive Estimated SAG is calculated continuously from your normal riding. For a controlled reading, run the guided SAG Measurement (rest, full load, rest) and get your battery quality rated against a clear legend.

PROTECT ANTI-CONTROL MODE
One tap locks assist to 0 while the Cockpit keeps responding normally to +/- taps, so it looks unchanged at a glance. A PIN set in the Service tab is the only way to turn it back off.

FULL CONTROLLER CONFIGURATION
Read and write every parameter - on OEM: Basic, Pedal Assist / PAS, and Throttle; on BBS-FW: the full System and Assist Levels configuration - exactly as your controller has them stored.

ASSIST LEVELS, VISUALIZED
Speed and current limits for all assist levels, plus power- and speed-distribution charts across the whole range, so you can see exactly how aggressive each level really is before you're already riding it.

RIDE MODE TOGGLE
Switch between Normal and Sport ride mode right from the Cockpit (BBS-FW; experimental on OEM).

BATTERY-AWARE RANGE
Enter your cell count and capacity once, and the Cockpit's range estimate blends your long-term riding history with your current riding style.

TEMPERATURE MONITORING (BBS-FW)
A dedicated tab adds a live controller-temperature Cockpit tile, with configurable warning and alarm thresholds and an audible alarm.

DISPLAY, YOUR WAY
Dark or Light theme, plus a High Contrast mode for full-sun readability. Optionally show speed, power, and assist right on your lock screen/AOD, so your phone can sleep instead of staying lit the whole ride.

CALIBRATION
Controller reading current, voltage, or speed wrong (shunt mod, slightly-off wheel size)? App-side correction factors fix the display without changing anything on the controller itself.

FULL DIAGNOSTICS
An "All in View" screen lists every parameter your controller reports at a glance, plus a register-level scan for exploring raw controller registers.

PROFILES
Save your current setup as a named profile, export it to a file, or import one back in - profiles are firmware-aware, so you can't accidentally load an OEM profile onto BBS-FW or vice versa.

SAFE BY DESIGN
Every parameter write requires your explicit confirmation with a full preview of what's being sent. Nothing is written silently.

YOUR PRIVACY
EggSPEED requests no internet permission at all. It talks to your controller only over the wired USB cable - no account, no analytics, no tracking, nothing leaves your phone. The Menu screen always has the current Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, plus a direct link to report a bug or request a feature.

What’s new

Added Danish and Russian - EggSPEED now speaks 13 languages total (Polish, English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Czech, Slovak, Danish, Russian), switchable anytime from the Language menu.
Improved range (RANGE) estimation on the Cockpit: capped how much a single early, low-power chunk of a ride can override the learned historical Wh/km average, fixing unrealistically high range readings (e.g. 500 km) right at the start of a ride.
