Ratings and reviews

All the 5 star reviews are pre update (April 2026), they've completely changed it now and it's very similar to other language apps, with fill in the blank style lessons. The conversations also don't follow on from what you've said, unlike the original. There's more errors in this one too so it needs addressing. I've reinstalled superfluent classic, which I highly recommend.

I'm not going to buy a subscription quite yet for personal reasons, but this feels like a great app for more conversation-focused language learning. I do admit I miss the old conversation prompts/stories after the recent update, even though they were more difficult and open than the new "journey" mode. There may be occasions where the conversations are used past the demo, but not being hand-held by the "fill in the blank" style of vocab/grammar quizzing tested both much faster than Duolingo.

Incredibly easy to use and helpful for building real world language skills. A little addictive also - I did over 40 minutes of conversation practice in my first day. The tutor feature and feedback are very useful and tailored to how people actually speak. Only issue so far is sometimes the app has trouble transcribing certain words I say in my chosen language, but that just be because of my bad accent! (And it doesn't happen often). Highly recommended
