This app stopped showing the time trains come and started showing how many minutes away they are. It's way more difficult to tell someone when I'm arriving because I've got to add it all up in my head. I used to be able to tell someone hey I'm arriving at 10:45. Now I look and it says it's getting there in 34 minutes, so I've got to add 34 minutes to the current time in my head. Useless. Such a boneheaded change. Please change it back.
The app is confusing as you can't tell if a bus is running late or not unless you're on the bus stop looking at live times. If you're not on the bus stop it seems to tell you the time the next bus it thinks you're going to make, based on your location, and not when the next bus is actually going to be on the stop you've selected. The app or GPS can't predict how fast I can move from A to B so why have this feature? All I need to know when the next bus is due at the selected stop and if its late or not, regardless of my physical location.
This app hasn't yet migrated from a simple tracker to what people need to traverse Melbourne. Don't use it for working out where to go right now to get to your destination, it's too hard to use. The "live" times are also rubbish for knowing when to start traveling because they are in minutes-from-now instead of absolute time. What time do I need to be at the bus stop? Example: Whatever now+23mins is. This could be easily fixed by an app setting. This app loses one more star because the approaching times have no correlation to how late your bus really is
For normal services it's fine, but this app touts that it'll give you updates on road works and train replacements... wrong. It said that a vline from Dandenong to southern cross would still be available despite the rail works on the cranbourne/Pakenham line but was absolutely wrong since we had to take train replacement buses. Up your game, PTV. Disappointing.
Slow and unreliable. This app is essentially supposed to be a digital timetable, but it can't even get that job right. Buses only ping certain stops, so there's no accurate way to determine where the bus is and the app will just determine that the bus has gone past a stop it hasn't reached yet. There needs to be a way in the app to report buses that haven't shown up (even though the app states that it's been and gone). The app also needs to consider traffic conditions, example: I get an 8 o'clock bus, the app claims I'll get to my destination in 30 minutes. But the bus always travels through heavy traffic which makes the trip 40-50 minutes long
The search results are lacking for institution names (like a church) and some bus stops, whereas google maps can find it easily. So loses 1 star. However, the favourite routes bar is great for fast checks, and I find the times are very reliable
