Same problem everyone else reported with the app locked into landscape mode. Also some screens have no easy way to get out of them. I had to quit the app and then start over again. The thermostat itself is okay, nothing special. Forcing the need for the C wire means no batteries ever, not a bad thing as long as you have a C wire. If no C wire you cannot use this thermostat.
Finally got my thermostat registered after 3 calls to tech support. Works as advertised, but really isn't much better than anything else I've seen. Interface is a bit clunky/outdated. But yes it works. I like the cloud aspect for remote access.
This app is abysmal. Honestly the worst user interface I've ever used. I was forced into using this thermostat during installation, but I will be switching back to Nest ASAP. It always forces landscape mode. The are NO visible buttons on the main screen, but tapping the screen in different places leads to different results. A "menu" exists, but cannot be accessed from the main screen. In other words 100% of the functionality of this app buried under an invisible UI.
Since I cannot get any email response from carrier, I am forced to report a bug here. If system is set to off, and the fan is switched from auto to on or from on to auto, the app hangs with the spiral wait cursor. Nexus 7 2013 version. Other than that, things work pretty well. Screen orientation is fixed in landscape. Expectation: smart home control would have access via Google Home and Alexa. I expected Carrier to be on board with this by now. Why no Google home support yet?
The mid Aug update seems to have fixed the black screen issue on my LG G3. I had to uninstall and reinstall the app. Working now
Lacking features. Needs realtime furnace/HVAC status
