Bikes are great for Bournemouth. But the system is terrible. Always getting errors. Whatever you do don't ever pause the ride because if the signal is low it will lock the bike, fine you £5 and not let you unlock, leaving you stranded! Beryl need to work on a better offline mode for weak signals which Bournemouth has plenty of in the high season. GPS still works with no signal so it should be possible.

As I took the bike out of zone, the trouble began from there. The app appears to have connectivity problems. It ended my ride so I was automatically fined £10 and customer service refused to refund the amount, despite me returning the bike later. I also had problems reconnecting the bike to the app as the lock didn't work well. I also found that the minutes used were not showing properly so once I used up the 300 minute balance, I didn't know it was charging me per minute. Overall, annoying.

Too expensive. Cheaper to take the bus. It cost me £6.60 for 12 minutes on a bike, apparently due to a £5 out-of-bay charge, which I was not warned about. I can't see this mode of transport ever being useful to me, if I can only use it I situations where I could walk. Must suit some target market, but definitely not me.
