Ratings and reviews

Game Coaster has served me well with Dungeon Maker for ten years. They have only gotten money from me three times: DM+DLC, and now. For all the effort they put into one of my most beloved games, I am fine with paying the price for an early access game. I know they will meet my expectations. And if not? Oh well. But I doubt that to be the case. The game—however rough it is around some edges—is already fun to me. It can only go up from here.

Another banger from these devs. DnD style combat mechanics are interesting. Their pixel art is once again great. Though the defeated enemies seem not as well done as Dungeon Squad it's a fair trade off when there's so many good looking sprites for your team. I like the camera controls and would love them brought over to DS too. The memorial feature that lets you bring your monsters and rooms into other runs is a nice addition that allows for long term team building around favorite units.

Gamecoaster puts out quality games that aren't money sinks, and offer a lot of re-playability. Dungeon Within is no different, with beautiful pixel art and a lot of different playstyles. The game is still a bit early, so there's still some growing pains (Last Stand Coliseum building feels nearly critical every game), but there's a lot to enjoy with a beautiful presentation. I can't wait to see what's next for the game.
