I downloaded this app because it seems to be one of the few ways to read .ascm apps on Android. I wasn't satisfied with the options it gave me. I'm still trying to find out why the text to speech is behind a paywall, much less a subscription-based one. Sure, maybe I'd be able to wrap my brain around a one time payment, but a subscription? Text to speech just seems like one of those basic accessibility features for those with bad sight

Hello,
We're no longer supporting Adobe ACS in Aldiko 4 but the majority of our premium features are now free. This new version already supports highlights/annotations and will add TTS as well before the end of the year.
Moving away from Adobe also helps us a lot to improve accessibility features such as screen readers.

Review updated 10/9/21. The new update is terrible, NO viewing options!! Can only view collection with giant cover images, not as a list. Since most of my books don't have descriptive covers this is not helpful to me. Also they changed the page view, hate the new one. I've used aldiko for +5 years, but will be switching to a new epub reader.

Hello, In addition to several new features, Aldiko 4 will offer all the ones that were already available, only improved and made more accessible. We've simply decided to deploy them incrementally. So it is normal that some features from previous versions are not yet available. They will become available as future versions are released.

previous version was an easy 4-5 star but it feels like this redesign has fallen for the old traps of focusing form over function and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.. the migration process took almost a day, somehow my ebook collection takes up 2-3 times more space on device and they removed the rating option (which I used to sort books for priority of reading). I'm going to start looking for a replacement app.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. Aldiko Next is being updated every month. We are now running 4.3.6 which features many functionalities that weren't present in the 3.1.3 version (multi-select folders to fasten the migration process, two-pages reading mode, new options to define text and search for specific words, sleeping mode option).
