Ratings and reviews

This was an amazing app and I was using it every day. Then they started doing "upgrades". The real voices were replaced with computerised ones and a large portion of the time you can't understand what it's saying because of lack of pronunciation and the "voice" is distracting. I had correspondance with Mondly and they said they were improving the app, but that the real voices would be back. That was weeks ago. I will now look for another app to learn Norwegian.

Thanks for the features of this app that are free to access. It gives you a very good insight in to whether or not it is for you. I do like it but until I find out why after a little bit of use, it asks for access to all media, galleries and files. Doesn't add up. I get the mic being needed, but why would you wanna see selfies of me naked? Seriously I look like the rough end of a written-off bus thats been abandoned on the roadside. Can't trust anyone with that level of kink. Let me know? Takk

Nice app in general but the quality can be heavily improved. Meanwhile I use an app which is free and has decent advertising and much much better content quality. I restructured my review a bit to better distinguish between: @Quality concerning the app: Using it daily, I have at least my 3 crashes a day. It is very slow to operate and not only the scrolling in the app is very slow but every widget like the calendar or the map are so slow. Switching between apps causes it to crash sometimes as well. It is not a clean developed app. @Quality concerning the content: The free version is almost useless and after using it for 5 days (in the free version) I had to upgrade - otherwise you only have a tiny daily lesson which is far too little for making any progress or any sense The translations (German <-> Norwegian) or the plausibility and consistency is very low. One sees three have been many terms and sentences be just translated from English rather from Norwegian to German. The algorithm to recognize correct sentences is very poor and leaves no room for alternatives which would be very often more correct than the proposed ones. Having experience with this app over 150 hours and finishing all the courses I feel confident to give an overview. @Quality of support My requests were answered but not in a more meaningful way as this review was commented - with standard phrases not really in context with the reported problems. When writing back and forth clarifying the circumstances that lead to an app crash or misbehavior I had to accept this is a waste of time ;-) but this is the same with most support e-mail teams and therefore I got what I expected. Positive points: # very motivating, nice streak and ranking system for your language and country. Did not know it could make that fun. # various nice ways to answer questions # practice your pronunciation with the funny and appealing dialogs in every lesson. Points to improve: # daily lesson is not too diverse and start to bore you after a month. # many translation inaccuracies # after a short time you are through with all the lessons. # lack of long time motivation TLDNR; Nice to start with. But check out other competing apps commercial/free ,e.g., the one with the green owl, or the one with the +Before their name. They have better app quality and better content quality.
