Since 2026, Portuguese law (Organic Law No. 1/2026) requires proof of Portuguese language proficiency for nationality applications. The level is demonstrated by a recognized exam: the CIPLE (A2) — Initial Certificate of Portuguese as a Foreign Language — conducted by CAPLE, University of Lisbon.

HOW THE CIPLE WORKS
The CIPLE has three components, with different weights: Reading Comprehension + Written Production and Interaction (45%), Listening Comprehension (30%) and Oral Production and Interaction (25%). The final grade gives a mention — Very Good, Good, Sufficient, or Insufficient — and nationality requires approval (Sufficient, ≥ 55%). The app calculates your estimate using this same weighting logic, so you know exactly where to focus.
EACH ANSWER, EXPLAINED
Each question has an explanation that indicates the key phrase in the document (audio or text) and shows why the other options are wrong — the elimination method that counts on exam day.
THE CITIZENSHIP TEST — ON THE WAY
The law also requires a test of culture, history, and citizenship. The official format has not yet been published; as soon as the ordinance is released, this module will be activated as a free app update.

Interface in Portuguese, Arabic (full view from right to left), and English. The training content remains in European Portuguese — the language of the exam.
