Now this is what a sous vide app should be. All the information you need, from basics to complex recipes. Video of the results of specific temperatures with recommended times. Very professional. I would have bought a Joule, but it's not available in Australia, so I got an Anova, but I use this app to work out times and temps. If you ever bring your device to Australia you can count on me as a customer.
Works fine as an app for Sous Vide cooking. The one star is for massive battery drain. Yesterday ten hours after fully charging my phone battery, I looked in the Android battery meter and this app had used up ten percent of my phone's battery. I had not opened or used this app for several days. Since there is not as far as I can see a place in the app to exit, the only way I see to stop this app is to do a Forecstop every time you are done cooking.
The app structure is fine, but it constantly needs to be force-closed after losing connection to the Joule. LITERALLY every single time I use it, this happens. Even worse, lately my timer has been completely resetting when this happens. Obviously, timing is a huge factor when it comes to precision cooking. I am baffled that ChefSteps would not take action on these bugs immediately, particularly because the app is absolutely crucial to using the Joule effectively. I have a Note 5, so there should be zero compatibility issues with a popular Samsung device. Until these issues are resolved, my review will remain at one star.
No app should use 800MB of storage! For as beautiful the UI is, it's complicated and a pain to use. It feels like it take 5 minutes just to turn on and set the temp.
600mb for your app is rediculous. Optimize your file sizes please. Storage is not free.
I wish there was Notification Panel support and the user could be shown current temp, timer, etc... It's annoying having to launch the app each time I want the ETA.
Did you know your Joule is into self-improvement? It’s true! And when Joule’s not practicing yoga or reading Brené Brown, it’s diligently improving its software and firmware. Case in point: this app update, which was designed so that the app can work fluidly with another enlightening Joule moment—a firmware update. Make sure you have this latest version so that when the firmware update arrives, your software and firmware coexist in peace and harmony. Namaste.
