About the app:

Collabora Office for Android uses the same engine as LibreOffice for Windows, Mac, and Linux. This, combined with a new front-end based on Collabora Online, reads and saves documents similarly to LibreOffice desktop.

Collabora Engineers Skyler Grey, Tor Lillqvist, Tomaž Vajngerl, Michael Meeks, Miklos Vajna, Jan Holešovský, Mert Tümer and Rashesh Padia have been developing Android support since 2012, with the help of Google Summer of Code students Andrzej Hunt, Iain Billet and Kaishu Sahu.

It's nice to have a perfectly viable office suite on the most common and frequently used digital interface on the planet, Android, that doesn't force you to keep your documents in their cloud while reserving the right to use any data input into it to "improve their services"/legally spy on you, sell/provide that data to third parties, train AI, etc, unlike the most common alternative, Google Docs. It's not perfect, there is some minor ghosting from time to time; I blame Android.

Perfect application for viewing and editing OpenDocument formats. A good companion app with Nextcloud for editing remote documents. I took stars off because I couldn't find a fit-to-screen view like in Word or Google Docs (I'll keep looking). Also, selecting blocks of text hides the keyboard rather than opening a "right-click" menu, making it difficult to edit. Finally, I'd like to easily move documents written on my phone to my Nextcloud.

It's not a PERFECT document editing experience. But it works well even on a 60+ page document. (I'm on a relatively new phone so this may not be universal.) And best of all, it's not constantly attempting to get you to agree to feed your writing into an ai slop generator for "writing assistance" and DEFINITELY not free training data.

What’s new

Hi everyone! We've got a few mobile-specific fixes and improvements this time around - focused on phones. In particular, we've tuned keyboard popups and zooming, and continued to work on our improved search bar.

This'll be our last mobile release this year. Happy holidays; I hope you have a great rest of 2025 and a wonderful new year!

As always, you can find the code that was used to build this release on our GitHub: this mobile release is based on code from Collabora Online 25.04.7
