Collabora Office is a text editor, spreadsheet and presentation program based on LibreOffice, the world's most popular Open Source office suite - and now it's on Android, enhancing your possibilities to work on mobile and for collaboration.

About the app:

Collabora Office for Android uses the same engine as LibreOffice for Windows, Mac, and Linux. This, combined with a new front-end based on Collabora Online, reads and saves documents similarly to LibreOffice desktop.

Collabora Engineers Tor Lillqvist, Tomaž Vajngerl, Michael Meeks, Miklos Vajna and Jan Holešovský have been developing Android support since 2012, with the help of Google Summer of Code students Andrzej Hunt, Iain Billet and Kaishu Sahu.

Ratings and reviews

On one hand this is the most fully featured libreoffice-writer-alike that does not feature bad subscription monetization. On the other hand, even on a Moto G Power it's kind of slow(the writer view seems to update at like 20 frames), and there is a fairly obnoxious bug. Say you write out a paragraph, and later find a word you want to replace. Fairly normal, tap to place the cursor in front of the word - but it only deletes one character. You have to tap AGAIN to delete more characters. Not cool.

I think I finally found an excellent piece of software to utilize ODT documents. I was very surprised to see humongous menus popping up and very satisfied. However there seems to be a small problem changing the font color, I type a few words, click and select a new color and it reverts to the color I was using initially. Aside from that I am very pleased.

Clean, modern and a joy to use. The app has a minimal but modern and fulfilling presentation to it. You can do everything you need to and not get confused with the menus or ui. I am pleasantly surprised and look forward to using this while on the road or at places where I can't use LibreOffice on my pc. 5 stars easily earned.
