About this app

Lina Notes is a handwriting note app designed to preserve the tactile sensation of writing by hand on a tablet, allowing you to seamlessly manage PDF learning, lecture recording, handwriting search, and note organization all in one place.

Open class materials as PDFs to take notes immediately, and record meetings or lectures to find notes taken during important moments. You can seamlessly connect materials, memos, and recording files within a single note, eliminating the need to manage them separately across multiple apps.

**Fast and Natural Handwriting**

Lina Notes is designed with tablet and stylus usage in mind. You can use various writing tools such as ballpoint pens, fountain pens, brush pens, and highlighters, and record with the desired feel by reflecting pressure and tilt.

It is designed to distinguish between stylus input and finger gestures even when your palm touches the screen, allowing for comfortable note-taking during long lectures or meetings. A finger drawing option is also provided, enabling use even in environments where a stylus is unavailable.

You can save frequently used pen settings to favorites for quick switching, and the app also offers editing features essential for handwriting, such as an eraser, undo and redo functions, select and move, resize, rotate, and change styles. Write Directly on PDFs

You can import lecture materials, papers, textbooks, meeting notes, and business documents as PDFs and take notes directly on the pages. There is no need to switch between a separate PDF viewer and a note-taking app.

As you read a PDF, underline important sections, highlight them with a highlighter, and jot down your thoughts in the margins. Even large PDFs are designed to load only the necessary pages, allowing you to handle large documents efficiently.

Once you have finished taking notes, you can export the document as a PDF containing your notes, making it convenient for creating review materials or sharing with others. Page-by-page image sharing is also supported, allowing you to quickly share only the essential parts.

Record Lectures and Meetings and Link Them to Notes

Lina Notes allows you to record audio directly within the notes. Notes taken during the recording are linked with time information, making it easy to review the explanations from that moment later while looking at your notes.

In playback mode, selecting a specific note jumps to that point in time to listen, and you can follow the location of the notes based on the playback position. By utilizing speed playback and skipping silent sections, you can review long lectures or meetings more quickly.

You can store multiple recording sessions in a single note, making it ideal for managing a semester's worth of class notes, recurring meetings, and long-term project records seamlessly within one notebook.

Recording stability was also a top priority. It detects low storage space and automatically pauses recording if audio focus is lost due to a call or another app. It is designed to preserve as much recoverable data as possible, even if the app crashes unexpectedly.

**Search Your Handwriting**

As your notes grow, you frequently find yourself asking, "I definitely wrote this down, but where did I write it?" Lina Notes supports ML Kit Digital Ink-based handwriting recognition on Android, allowing you to search for your own handwritten notes.

Once you download the Korean and English recognition models, the device performs handwriting recognition and creates a search index. You can navigate directly to the relevant page from the search results to view related notes, making it useful for studying for exams, reviewing lectures, and organizing meeting notes.

Even without the recognition model, you can still search using note titles, folders, and tags. Handwriting recognition does not alter the original note itself; instead, it functions as a separate index to aid in searching. Page Layout Tailored for Study and Work

When creating a new note, you can utilize various templates such as blank, lined, grid, dotted, and Cornell notes. You can select page sizes suitable for your purpose, such as A4, Letter, and 16:9, and add, delete, duplicate, or rearrange pages.

You can organize diverse note-taking methods within a single app, such as using Cornell notes for lectures, grid or dotted notes for math or engineering notes, or blank notes for organizing free-form ideas.

You can insert images into your notes and write on them, or use the lasso tool to move and resize multiple notes at once. Editing features are also supported, allowing you to cut and paste content to other pages.

**Neatly Organize with Folders, Tags, and Favorites**

You can organize your notes by creating folders based on class, project, client, or topic. Using tags, favorites, and recent items allows for quick access to notes you view frequently.

Even if your notes grow to dozens or hundreds, the app is designed to make it easy to find necessary records by utilizing titles, classification information, and handwriting search. I Manage My Own Files

Lina Notes is designed to operate around local files rather than a server-centric service. Notes are saved as individual bundle files, and even if the app's search data is corrupted, you can re-index the original notes.

If desired, you can use a user-specified cloud sync folder as the save location, while the actual synchronization is handled by the operating system and the cloud service you are using. The structure does not require you to upload notes to a specific account or your own server.

Handwriting recognition is also processed on the device after downloading the necessary language models. Providing data control and stability to users who keep handwritten notes and study materials for extended periods was a key criterion.

Screen Layout Focused on Handwriting

Toolbars are placed at the edges of the screen and can be adjusted to suit the user environment, making it comfortable for both left-handed and right-handed users. The interface is organized to prevent excessive obstruction of view while writing, and Light Mode and Dark Mode are available to suit bright and dark environments.

For shapes you want to organize neatly, such as straight lines, circles, and squares, you can draw them by hand, hold them for a moment, and snap them into the shape. Rather than automatically converting all handwriting, it converts only when the user desires, making it ideal for creating both freehand notes and organized diagrams.

**File-Centric Backup and Transfer**

We provide a note backup export and import structure to allow you to store important notes for the long term or transfer them to other environments. Original PDFs, handwriting data, inserted images, recordings, and link information are managed at the note level, focusing on preserving your records intact rather than simply capturing screens.

Search data is separated from the original so it can be regenerated when needed. The saving process utilizes temporary files and safe replacement procedures to minimize damage to the original data even in the event of an abnormal shutdown.

**Accessibility and Ease of Use**

We provide step-by-step onboarding so that even first-time users can quickly understand key features, and you can review usage instructions in the settings. The Library, Settings, and Toolbar are designed with screen reading in mind and support text size enlargement. On Android, if a handwriting recognition result is available, the recognized text on the current page can be used as supplementary information.

**Stable Handling Long Documents and Many Notes**

We are designed to adjust PDF and image cache usage based on device memory conditions and reduce unnecessary page prefetching on low-memory devices. Unsaved edits are prioritized for protection, and even if the app closes during saving and temporary files remain, they can be restored in the next launch.
