Pages Left is a reading log built around the reading itself: what you are in the middle of, how far you got last night, and how much is left. You type each book in yourself, and everything the app tells you is worked out from the sittings you logged.

★ THE UNIT IS A SITTING
A sitting is a day, the page you started on, the page you reached, and the minutes if you counted them. Every number here comes from those: how far through a book you are, how many pages are left, what a whole year held. Nothing is kept twice, so correcting one sitting corrects everything that was worked out from it.

★ A YEARLY GOAL THAT DOES NOT LIE
Set a goal for the year and Pages Left shows two counts and the calendar: books finished, books you asked for, and how much of the year has gone. That is all it says. It never guesses whether you will make it, and it never turns your reading into a weekly quota, because reading is not spread evenly through a year and a number that pretends it is was invented to make somebody feel late. Leave the goal at zero and the app simply counts. A book you read twice counts twice: the goal counts readings, not titles.

★ FOUR SHELVES, INCLUDING THE HONEST ONE
Want to read, Reading, Finished - and Set aside. Books you set aside are kept, not hidden. A log that counts only the books you finished is a log you stop opening in March.

★ A RE-READ IS ITS OWN READING
Start a book again and it begins at page one, with its own sittings and its own finishing day. The first reading keeps everything it had, and the year you first finished the book stays the year you first finished it.

★ WHAT YOU TYPE IN
Title, author, page count, and a cover colour with the title's initials drawn on it. That is the whole entry. There is nothing to look up and nothing to scan: there is no book database in this app, so it works the same on a plane as it does at home, and no cover ever fails to load.

★ WHAT STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
Your books stay on your phone, with your ratings, your notes and every sitting you typed. There is no account and nothing to sign in to, and the app sends none of it anywhere. Android's cloud backup is switched off for this app, and the cost of that is worth knowing before you rely on it: a new phone starts with an empty library. The app needs internet only for ads.

★ AND THE REST
- Search your library by title or author, accents and all.
- Order by recent, by title, by author, or by how far through a book you are.
- Rate a book out of five, and keep a note on it.
- See any past year: what you finished, what you set aside, the pages, the sittings and the days you read.
- Light and dark, and your wallpaper colours if you want them.
- Every count is worded properly for a screen reader, and every bar has the same thing in words beside it.

Ads: a full-screen ad now and then, when you leave a book you have just marked finished - never while you are logging a sitting, never when you set a book aside, and never over the moment you finish. Watch a short video in Settings to turn ads off for a day.
