About this app

Gift is for one question, asked in a car park in December with fourteen minutes
left: what did I get her last year?

A notes app cannot answer it. A shopping list forgot it in January. And the one
person who could tell you is the person you are buying for.

WHAT IT REMEMBERS

Every present, filed under a person, an occasion and a YEAR. Mum at Christmas
2025 is a different thing from Mum at Christmas 2026, forever, and nothing in
this app ever overwrites one with the other. That is the whole design, and it is
why there is anything to look back at.

Open Mum's plan for this year and last year is sitting underneath it. Open Mum
herself and every year is there, every occasion, newest first.

IT WILL NOT HELP YOU REPEAT YOURSELF

The presents you actually gave are shown and there is no button to give them
again. The ideas you wrote down and never used ARE offered back, with the year
they came from — because an unused idea is the most valuable thing in here. You
already did the thinking and then bought something else.

Anybody who really wants to give the same thing twice can type six words. What
you will never do by accident is tap a button that repeats a present.

FOUR STATES

Idea, Picked, Bought, Given. Ideas are cheap — have five for one person, that is
what they are for. Picked is the decision. Bought is logistics. Given is history.

MONEY THAT ADDS UP

Set a budget per person, in that person's own currency, and it stays in that
currency forever — so an event can hold pounds for your mother and rupiah for
your brother-in-law, and the app shows each in its own money rather than
inventing an exchange rate.

A gift with no price yet is not a gift that cost nothing. The app keeps those
apart, and when a total leaves one out it says so on the same line. Every amount
is stored as a whole number of pence, cents or rupiah, so the total always
matches the rows above it.

START NEXT YEAR IN ONE TAP

One tap on Start Christmas 2027 brings everybody forward with their budgets — and
leaves the gifts exactly where they were, in last year, where you can read them.

NOTHING IS ARCHIVED, EVER

There is no end-of-year button and no cleanup step. The year moves on its own.

A GIFT LIST IS A SECRET

The app stays out of the recents screen and out of screenshots by default, so a
glance at your phone on the sofa gives nothing away. Turn it off if you want to
screenshot your own list; the setting says exactly that.

It never notifies you. No reminders, no badges, nothing. A present on a lock
screen has already been given away.

There is no passcode, and there will not be one. A PIN over a database that any
backup tool can read would be a promise this app cannot keep, and the people who
would trust it are exactly the people it would fail.

EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR PHONE

No account. No sign-up. No server. Nothing is uploaded and there is no link to
send anybody, because a shared gift list is a gift list on somebody else's
computer. Android cloud backup is switched off as well.

Uninstalling deletes everything. Save a copy first: the export is one readable
file with every person, every year and every gift, and restoring it on a new
phone puts the whole history back.

WHAT IT IS NOT

It is not a reminder. It has no dates and no alarms, and it will never tell you a
birthday is coming.

It is not a shopping app. No links, no barcodes, no prices fetched from anywhere.
What you are getting somebody is not a search query.

It is not a wishlist you share, and it is not a budgeting app.

No photos, and no contacts import. Fourteen names is ninety seconds of typing,
and a permission dialog asking for your address book would undo everything above.

Three permissions, and all three are for the ads that keep it free.
Remember what you gave, to whom, and when. Plan next year. Works offline.

What’s new

Adding somebody while starting an event now puts them IN it.

Typing a name under Who is it for and pressing Add created the person
but left them unticked, so pressing Start produced an event with
nobody in it - which in this app means no event at all.

And starting one with nobody chosen now says so, in the dialog,
instead of quietly doing nothing.
