Your whole trip on one screen, in order, and it works with no signal at all.
Trip Planner is an offline itinerary. Add your flights, trains, hotels, dinners and everything in between, and the app lays them out day by day. There is no account, no sign-up and no upload: what you type stays on this phone.
★ EVERY TIME IN THE ZONE IT ACTUALLY HAPPENS IN
This is the part most apps get wrong, and you only find out after you land. Type a 09:00 museum slot in Tokyo and it says 09:00 - at home, on the plane, and standing outside the museum. Your itinerary never quietly shifts by a few hours because your phone changed country.
★ A FLIGHT IS TWO PLACES, AND THE APP KNOWS IT
Give a departure a zone and an arrival another, and the length is worked out properly. Jakarta 08:00 to Tokyo 15:15 is five hours fifteen, not the seven fifteen the clock faces suggest. Jakarta 23:40 to Tokyo 07:05 the next morning is five hours twenty-five. Crossing midnight, crossing a date line and a clock going forward for the summer are all just arithmetic here.
★ IT SAYS WHEN IT DOES NOT KNOW
No made-up numbers. If two times cannot both be right, it says so. If a clock time does not exist because the clocks went forward that night, it says that instead of moving your booking for you. A blank is more use than a confident wrong answer.
★ YOUR DOCUMENTS, COPIED ONTO THE PHONE
Attach a boarding pass, a hotel confirmation or a visa letter to any entry. The file is COPIED into the app, so it opens at the gate with no signal and it still opens if you tidy up your downloads folder later. Nothing is fetched from anywhere.
★ DAYS, NOT A PILE
Open a trip while you are on it and it starts on today. Day 3 of 9, with what is on it. A hotel booked for three nights shows on every day it covers without you entering it three times.
★ WORKS COMPLETELY OFFLINE
Airplane mode, a foreign SIM you have not sorted out yet, a hotel wifi that wants a login - none of it matters. A connection is used only to load adverts.
★ EVERYTHING ELSE
• Ten kinds of entry: flight, train, bus, ferry, drive, stay, food, activity, meeting and note
• Booking references kept next to the entry they belong to
• Notes on any entry and on the trip itself
• 24-hour or 12-hour clock, your choice, without ever changing what you saved
• Light and dark themes, and your phone wallpaper colours if you want them
• Export a trip as plain text to send to somebody
• Save a backup file yourself, wherever you choose to put it
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO, ON PURPOSE
No map and no place search, so it never asks where you are. No live flight status, because it has no connection to check one with. No account, no sync and nothing uploaded. It asks for no permissions at all beyond the ones adverts need.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Everything lives on this phone, so removing the app removes the trips and the copied documents with it. Save a backup file before you change phones.
