About this app

Most people can name the three financial statements. Far fewer can open one and say, in ten seconds, what is actually going on. Earnings Reading Trainer builds that second skill the only way it can be built: one real-looking statement at a time, against the clock.

Every question is a single image — a balance sheet, an income statement, a cash flow statement, a ratio table, a segment breakdown or a guidance slide — and a question about what it shows. You read, you answer, and you find out immediately which line you should have been looking at, highlighted directly on the image.

THREE LEVELS, THREE DIFFERENT SKILLS

Level 1 — Three choices. The important figures are colour-coded on a clean, simplified statement, so you learn where each item lives and what a healthy number looks like.

Level 2 — Four choices. A plain, properly formatted table with two periods. No colour, no hints: read the numbers the way they are actually printed.

Level 3 — Five choices, select every correct answer. A dense excerpt in the style of a real filing, complete with note references and figures in parentheses. This is where reading turns into judgement.

WHAT YOU GET

• Pinch to zoom on every statement, so small print is never the obstacle
• A countdown timer with a pause button that blurs the screen, so stepping away is not the same as cheating
• Answer explanations that highlight the exact figures on the image, with the coordinates drawn over the artwork itself
• Tap any accounting term in an explanation for its US GAAP, IFRS and Japanese GAAP names side by side
• A radar chart of your accuracy by category, so your weak spot stops being a feeling and becomes a number
• Weak-point training that pulls questions from whichever category you score worst in
• A miss note that replays every question you got wrong, until you don't
• A one-tap drill of short text questions for the minutes when you can't study properly
• A searchable multilingual glossary of accounting terms
• US GAAP, IFRS and Japanese GAAP, switchable at any time
• Streaks, scores and a full session history

BUILT FOR REAL STUDY

Your answer history stays on your device. There is no account to create, no email to hand over, and nothing about your results is uploaded. Statistics are computed locally, which is why they appear instantly.

Sets are seven questions long — short enough to finish while the kettle boils, long enough to be worth grading.

WHO IT IS FOR

Investors who are tired of reading only the headline number. Analysts and accountants preparing for interviews or exams. Business students who have learned the theory and never practised the reading. Anyone who has opened an annual report and quietly closed it again.

PRO SUBSCRIPTION

Earnings Reading Trainer is free, funded by advertising. A Pro subscription removes every ad — banner, app-open, between-set interstitial and rewarded video — so a study session runs from the first question to the last without a break. Monthly and yearly plans are available, and new subscribers get a free trial.

This app is an educational tool. The figures in the questions are teaching material, not the published results of any real company, and nothing in the app is investment advice.
