Dr.Herb is a private, offline herbal reference for people who want fast, evidence-aware
summaries without a network connection, an account, or an advert.
Dr.Herb is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any
medical condition. It does not prescribe or recommend any herb or dose. Entries summarise
published reference material and are shown with their evidence standing — never as a
prescription. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis,
or treatment.
WHAT IT DOES
• 314 monographs, each with uses, preparation, dosage context, evidence notes and a
cautions card. 122 carry a reviewed botanical photograph; the rest are text-only.
• Search by herb name or by sickness — type "insomnia" and get the herbs the guide
actually indicates for it, ranked ahead of passing mentions.
• Browse 18 body systems, ordered by strength of evidence. That ordering is about the
weight of published support, not about which herb suits you.
• Evidence badges — Strong, Moderate, Preliminary, Mixed, Traditional, or Not supported.
164 of 314 entries are gradeable and show a badge; the rest show none, because a badge
we can't stand behind is worse than no badge.
• Interaction checker — pick a medication class or safety factor and see every herb whose
cautions mention it. Results are keyword matches from the guide's own caution text, and
the app says so on screen: a match is not a severity rating, and no match is not a
safety clearance.
• Favourites and per-herb notes, kept below the reference text so the two never blur.
• Regimen tracking — record which herbs you take and on which days, write your own dose
note, mark a dose taken, and see how many of the last 30 days you marked. It records
your decisions; it never suggests a herb, a dose or a schedule.
• An optional daily reminder, off until you turn it on, silent, and worded as a count —
"2 herbs still to take today". It never names a herb, so nothing about what you take
shows on your lock screen.
• Export and import — JSON backup of favourites, notes and your regimen, plus a notes
CSV. Import merges, so loading the wrong file cannot silently wipe your work.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
No ads. No account. No subscription. Works in airplane mode.
The app has no network code at all. Everything renders from bundled assets and local
storage. The only permission it ever asks for is notifications, and only if you switch
the reminder on — decline it and nothing else changes. There is no location, camera,
microphone, contacts, calendar or storage permission. Android automatic backup is
switched off, because a note saying why you take a herb is health data; on iPhone,
Apple's user-controlled encrypted backup may include app data. Exports happen only when
you tap the button.
ONE PURCHASE. THE WHOLE APP.
One upfront purchase unlocks everything. There is no subscription, no advertising, no
account, no herb limit, and no separate feature tier. Nothing is held back.
