EpiMonitor by Empatica is an FDA-cleared epilepsy monitoring system that offers real-time seizure alerts and health tracking. Paired with the EmbracePlus smartwatch, it detects possible convulsive seizures, sends instant alerts to caregivers, and keeps a detailed seizure diary—all to help you stay on top of your epilepsy management.

AUTOMATED AND MANUAL SEIZURE ALERTS
EpiMonitor’s most important feature aims to provide prompt assistance when a possible convulsive seizure is detected. EpiMonitor will send a seizure alert to the user’s selected caregivers via an automated text message (SMS) and phone call so they may get help when they need it most. Alerts can also be sent by manually pressing a button on the EmbracePlus smartwatch when you feel you might need help.

COMPREHENSIVE SEIZURE DIARY
Epimonitor keeps track of all your seizures in a practical digital diary that is available inside the app and can also be downloaded in PDF form, and easily shared with your family or doctor. Add detail about each seizure, including triggers or how you felt at the time.

ACCURATE SLEEP AND ACTIVITY TRACKING
Track your sleep and activity using Empatica’s sophisticated algorithms. Integrated activity and sleep data collected via the EmbracePlus smartwatch can be viewed on the app alongside seizure activity to monitor overall health and identify trends and patterns in your epilepsy.

USA: EpiMonitor is a prescription-only device indicated for use as an adjunct to seizure monitoring of 6+ year old people in home or healthcare facilities during periods of rest. We purchased this almost exclusively for the combination of location monitoring with seizure notification. The location services don't work and it's currently a known issue with no resolution that isn't communicated unless you report a problem. Always great to pay extra for nothing. The sensitivity is so high it'll go off on normal tasks like brushing my teeth or hair then randomly stay disconnected all day because it doesn't like the strength of the service connection even on wifi.

Disconnection occurs too often for comfort. the watch and the yearly enrollment fee is not cheap , so better service is expected especially for seizure alerts. I responded to email notification for lapse in service from empatica and expressed my dissatisfaction before to no avail. This may work for others, is a great tool to have ( do not make it your only go to) when it works as it is supposed to and all I can say is improve your service please.

After constant false alarms (which disrupted my son's sleep thus putting him at risk of a seizure) & dropped wifi even when right next to the phone, I put it back in the box. I saw an email recently about improvements so charged it, updated the app & firmware, & wore it myself (I do not have epilepsy); it signaled 2 seizure alerts, one while I was sitting. Shocked & very disappointed in this product. It's going back in the box & I canceled the subscription.
