About this app

EpiMonitor is Empatica's next-generation, FDA-cleared, epilepsy monitoring system aiming to provide peace of mind for people living with epilepsy and their caregivers. The EpiMonitor App pairs with EmbracePlus, a medical smartwatch designed for continuous health monitoring. The App and watch work together to detect possible convulsive seizures. When detection occurs, EpiMonitor will alert the user’s selected caregivers via an automated text message (SMS) and phone call so they may get help when they need it most. EpiMonitor can also serve as a practical seizure diary integrating activity data and sleep data creating an automated epilepsy journal.

EpiMonitor’s most important feature aims to provide prompt assistance when a possible convulsive seizure is detected. Alerts are sent to dedicated caregivers as phone calls and text messages (SMS) with the GPS location of the user. Alerts may be automatically sent when a possible seizure event is detected or by manually pressing a button on the EmbracePlus smartwatch when you feel you might need help.

Epimonitor keeps track of all your seizures in a practical digital diary that is available inside the app and can also be downloaded in PDF form, and easily shared with family or physicians. Integrated activity and sleep data collected via the EmbracePlus smartwatch may also be integrated and viewed on the app to monitor fitness or identify trends and patterns in your epilepsy.

Ratings and reviews

We purchased this almost exclusively for the combination of location monitoring with seizure notification. The location services don't work and it's currently a known issue with no resolution that isn't communicated unless you report a problem. Always great to pay extra for nothing. The sensitivity is so high it'll go off on normal tasks like brushing my teeth or hair then randomly stay disconnected all day because it doesn't like the strength of the service connection even on wifi.

Our young son has been using this for about an month now and so far we've had three false alarms. It would be great if the sleep tracking could be added on as a separate item since we only care about that functionality from the $533/yr plus plan.

Amazing, and highly. Already excited to see what technological difference(s) there are between this and my previous Embrace2 that had already saved my life several times. Very comfortable too, yet secure. I love having the buttons on this one. I'm looking fwd to the study in the near future. Thank you kindly.
