About this app

With FAIRTIQ you don’t have to buy a ticket in advance, indicate your destination or struggle to find the right zone. You will always be charged the best available price, once you have completed your journey. It doesn't matter how often you switch directions, or even if you change between trains, buses and trams. With FAIRTIQ there are no hassles, no complications, just smooth and easy travel at fair prices!

How it works

Shortly before boarding a vehicle, such as train, bus, tram or boat, simply swipe the "Start" button in the FAIRTIQ app. Your final destination does not need to be entered.
If a conductor requests ticket validation, click the "Show ticket" button and the QR code will automatically be displayed in the app.
Once you have arrived at your destination, swipe the "Stop" button in FAIRTIQ. The optimised cost for your trip is then displayed in the app.

Companion mode: With this new function, not only do you get a valid ticket easily and conveniently, but also your fellow companions.

The app works perfectly, but the pricing is really bizarre and often doesn't make any logical sense. The €10 daily maximum is also much more than a €5,60 day ticket offered by the local transport association. Yes, it's cheaper than the full-region day ticket, but I'm not using the distance that ticket is required for. I'm spending more money using this app. Today I made two identical journeys in opposite directions and the cost of one was nearly twice the cost of the other. Confusing.

Dear Amy, thanks for your feedback. We optimise your price continuously after each trip. Example: A 1 zone ticket is 3€ and valid for 60 minutes. A 2 zone ticket is 4€ and valid for 90 minutes. If both trips are done within 90 minutes we'll optimise to a 2 zone ticket for 4€ (3+1€) instead of 6€ (2x 3€). Hope that explanation helps. Best - Jeremy

The app is very dubious when it comes to pricing. It has a price on a fixed route but the same route has different price on the return journey. I have a very bad experience with the app and the customer service is very complete waste of time . They charge for the journey and do not even respond to the complaints but keep charging my card for all the wrong price. Very disappointed in the app.

Dear Sandeep, I am sorry to hear about your problems. We normally reply within 48h. Is it possible that you entered a wrong email-address? You can also contact us via feedback@fairtiq.com . The price can be cheaper because we can split the journey differently (time optimisation in zones or return point). Best regards - Jeremy from the FAIRTIQ team

Easy to use, but horribly non-transparent pricing system. The pricing structure totally depends on the region you're traveling in and is not always limited to the cheapest day ticket. Also, it will not take group tickets into account. The customer support will tell you this and it's also hidden in their FAQ, but it's not obvious from within the app. In the end, we paid more than 100€ for a 2.5h trip, where the day ticket would have cost 56€.

Hello and thank you for your detailed feedback. I understand your frustration. FAIRTIQ doesn’t support group tickets, and pricing depends on the local tariff system. Please feel free to contact me at julian@fairtiq.com so I can look into your case. Best regards, Julian from the FAIRTIQ team
