The FreeStyle Libre 3 app is cleared for use with the FreeStyle Libre 3 system sensors.

The newest member of the FreeStyle Libre family is the most advanced continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology designed to help you make progress:

• Your glucose in real time, anytime [1].
• Be notified the minute your glucose is too low or high. Optional alarms[2] help you know when to take action.
• Real-time readings updated every minute—5x faster than any other CGMs[3].
• Get detailed reports, including your time in range, to better understand your glucose trends and patterns.

COMPATIBILITY
You can only use the FreeStyle Libre 3 app with the FreeStyle Libre 3 system sensors. It is not compatible with FreeStyle Libre or FreeStyle Libre 2 Family of Sensors.

APP INFORMATION
The FreeStyle Libre 3 app is intended for measuring glucose levels in people with diabetes when used with the FreeStyle Libre 3 system sensors. For more information on how to use the FreeStyle Libre 3 app, please refer to the User’s Manual.

[1] A 60-minute warm-up is required when applying the sensor.
[2] Notifications will only be received when alarms are turned on and the sensor is within [30 feet or 10 meters] unobstructed of the reading device. You must enable the appropriate settings on your smartphone to receive alarms and alerts. See the FreeStyle Libre 3 User’s Manual for more information.
[3] The user’s device must have internet connectivity for glucose data to automatically upload to LibreView.

3 stars because it does what it has to, technically. The reader has been anywhere from 30 mg/dL low to 20 high. The app is very good, compared to apps from 10-15 years ago. It consumes too much battery, it gives inaccurate readings, and cannot be set up without alarms (which can take you up at 4am with erroneous readings, making you lose sleep for nothing). All in all, it's not as bad as it could be, especially for a free trial, but I'll go back to finger sticks because it is not worth it.

The app is rather problematic, with regards to the alarms & notifications. The mere fact that I cannot truly block notification sounds & alarm sounds permanently is unacceptable. Further, when the alarms go off at full volume, is BAD as it not only disturbs me, but my spouse as well. SHE gets very angry when her sleep is interrupted. The fact that a loss of signal with the sensor - which can be quite temporary - requires a LOUD ALARM, is not a 'feature' that I am willing to live with. FIX IT.

App resets: August 2, 2024 September 5, 2024 App just factory reset. Had to re-log in and go through the setup screens to find all of my history gone. I'd checked my numbers less than an hour ago. Not like I have a choice but to keep using it. Which Abbot appears to understand. If your insurance covers an alternative, strongly consider it. Note: I'm not wasting time on the phone for their QA problem. I don't work for them. Kinda like their app doesn't work, I suppose.
