Stride is a step counter and pedometer designed around three ideas: walking should feel rewarding, your data should stay on your device, and your phone should still have battery at the end of the day.
▌ACHIEVEMENTS
Stride includes four achievement categories:
- Daily Steps tiers at 7,000, 10,000, 14,000, and 20,000 steps in a single day
- Combo Days tiers at 1, 3, 7, 13, 25, 50, 100, and 365 consecutive days
- Total Days tiers at 7, 14, 30, and 60 lifetime goal-hit days
- Level tiers from L1 through L8, awarded as lifetime step totals grow
▌WALKING PLANS
Four ready-to-start walking plans are included:
Each plan day shows the target steps, the target active minutes, and a session timer if you want to walk against the clock.
▌DAILY VIEW
The home screen shows today at a glance: a large live step count, calories estimated from your profile, walking distance estimated from your height, and active minutes. Below the numbers, a 7-day bar chart shows your week. Star markers appear on every goal-hit day that is part of your active combo, numbered in sequence.
▌DATA AND PRIVACY
Stride stores your step history in the app's private database on
your device. The app does not request the internet permission and
does not transmit your data over the network. Sign-up is not
required because there is no account system.
Stride integrates with Health Connect. When you grant permission,
Stride reads step and cadence data recorded by your other connected
devices (such as a smartwatch or fitness band) so your daily step
count in Stride reflects all the walking you actually did, not
just what your phone detected. Health Connect access is optional.
You can revoke it at any time in your device settings, and Stride
continues to function using only phone sensor data.
For full details, see the Data Safety section of this listing.
▌REPORTS
- Week view: a 7-day chart with goal reference line and a day-by-day list
- Month view: a heatmap calendar, a monthly progress card, the most active day, the most leisurely day, total goal-hit days, and longest combo
- Year view: a 52-week chart, best day of the year, and longest combo of the year
▌INSIGHTS
Stride observes your walking patterns and surfaces simple summaries: which day of the week you walk most, when during the day you take most of your steps, your longest combo, your total distance walked, and how this week compares to last week. Insights are generated on your device from your own data.

▌DATA AND PRIVACY
Stride stores your step history on your device. The app does not request the internet permission and works in airplane mode. Sign-up is not required because there is no account system. Step data, profile information, and walking history remain in the app's local storage. Uninstalling Stride removes the data with the app.
For full details, see the Data Safety section of this listing.
▌BATTERY USE
Stride relies on the low-power step counter sensor that your phone provides at the hardware level. The app does not run a persistent foreground service for ambient counting and does not request location updates. Training mode runs a foreground notification while a session is active so you can see the session is recording.
