Most "cat translator" apps never open the microphone. A progress bar spins for three seconds and a random sentence appears. Try the same meow twice and you get two different answers.
CatLingo actually listens.
WHAT IT DOES
Tap the microphone. Your cat meows. In three to six seconds CatLingo measures seven things about that sound — length, base frequency, whether the pitch rises or falls, noisiness, timbre brightness, loudness and syllable count — and scores them against twelve intent profiles: I am hungry, Pet me, Look at me, Leave me alone, I am scared, What is that?, Hello, I feel off, Open the door, Let's play, I am content, and the long night call.
The nearest profile becomes the result, with a confidence percentage and the raw numbers printed on screen. No black box. You see exactly what the app looked at.
THE SAME MEOW ALWAYS GIVES THE SAME ANSWER
There is no randomness anywhere in CatLingo. The result comes out of the measurement, so recording the same sound twice gives the identical intent, the identical confidence and the identical sentence. That is the difference you can test in ten seconds.
NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE
The sound is analysed in memory on your device and thrown away the moment the measurement ends. It is never written to a file, never stored, never uploaded. There is no account, no login, no email. The analysis works in airplane mode.
No ads. No analytics SDK. No tracking.
TALK BACK
Eight cat sounds are synthesised live on your phone — hungry, greeting, insistent, angry, playful, purr, door call, night call. No audio files ship with the app, which is why it downloads small. Play one and watch your cat's ears turn.
The same sounds double as sample readings, so you can walk through the whole app before you ever grant the microphone permission.
JOURNAL AND MOOD
Every reading is saved on the device with its time and confidence. The mood chart shows the last seven days grouped into demand, social and discomfort, and tells you when a particular intent clusters — built from your own readings, never from an average of other people's cats.
HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS
Cats do not have a language, and CatLingo does not claim to translate one. It measures a sound and names the closest intent. It is for entertainment. It is not veterinary advice. If something is wrong with your cat, see a vet.
Known weak spot, stated plainly: purring. It is not a periodic sound, so the pitch estimate wobbles and confidence drops there. We would rather tell you than hide it.
