I used to love this app. With the new update it is slow. Its not intuitive. I feel that its all flash and no substance. The previous app was clean amd clear. Not looking like a unicorn frapachino With the update shows with subtitles and dubed episodes play together and not sperate like it did before. I have to watch those shows on the web site Update. It has gotten a little faster still hard to find things
3/2017: Wow, this new UI is extremely limiting. It makes discovering new content next to impossible. On top of this terriblely inefficient UI, it appears the under-the-hood components of the service have also been butchered. Many more commericals (with the same 3 commercials repeated over and over) after which the service sometimes "forgets" where you were in the show and skips forward in the episode. This makes watching programs extremely nerve-racking. It make me second guess whether I have missed a large part of the show, unless I baby sit the app. 6/28/17: I'm at my wit's end with this app. My terrible experience extends beyond the horrible UX at this point. Freezes constantly, streams error out and I know it has nothing to do with my wifi strength. To add insult to injury, this newest update "includes better error messaging during playback" rather then actually FIXING the errors. I am extremely close to canceling my subscription. This service has become an absolute disaster...
This redesign is a usability nightmare. It's as if the app designers didn't bother to actually use the app prior to release, but designed something purely for themselves. But maybe the designers at Hulu just have terrible taste in programming they want to force on all users by making navigation and organic discovery both nearly impossible. It wouldn't be so bad if the recommendations were actually personalized, or if I could still access my Watchlist. Why is "My Stuff" just a collection of the things I selected to "build suggestions" rather than my Watchlist? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to ask during setup to "select the shows you want us to suggest to you?" This is STILL a prime example of user-hostile design. I hate this service more and more each time I use the mobile app.
The service is great, especially the new live TV. But I really don't like the new ui. I find it very difficult to find things I want, to navigate though live programming. Additionally, I have no idea what adding an episode to "my episodes" does. I would have thought that would be a dvr-like thing, but apparently not?
The navigation is horrible. It is unintuitive and selecting a specific episode of a tv show takes five clicks. General browsing of what is offered is equally difficult and I find myself having to use the web interface to find a show I want to watch when looking for something new. Old interface was far Superior.
I was going to do the free trial to see why it had such a low rating but then I read that they will charge me that same day for a FREE trial? If it's a free trial why am I being charged and why is my visa information required? Decided not to go with it if all i'm going to experience are commercials anyways. I'll continue supporting Netflix...
