This is a useful app but I'm not crazy about the design. The focus isn't on the database like on the web version. Instead when you open the app it is dominated by ads, entertainment news and shortcuts for movie trailers and showtimes, none of which I use. The app can be kind of overwhelming if all you want to do is look up a movie or actor.
Love this app it helps me a lot.
Every improvement just makes it harder to use and less useful. Too cluttered. Too many featured articles that do not interest me. The search gets worse at finding accurate results. Strip 90% of the content and let me just look for info on films, actors and crew, please. And make it easier to dismiss the ads. My fingers aren't very accurate when aiming for the cross.
The new update looks terrible. I can't find anything. As my most used app, it would be nice to actually use it with ease. As other reviewers have stated, less is more. Everything is packed in so tight that it just looks like an awful mess.
All the information you need on a film, great resource. Don't like the increased spacing and extra scrolling needed in this latest update though, previous version was much more compact and efficient.
UPDATE: Upon further review, I'm unable to find the problems others have reported. Everything just works. The new layout is intuitive and straight forward. Amazon Prime Video integration is improving, and I hope it continues to go in that direction. One complaint so far: upon selecting the option to watch on Prime, it opens the default Amazon app, not Prime Video. It would be nice to choose the default within the settings. More options provide a more streamlined experience. PREVIOUS REVIEW: Wow! Absolutely love the update! The "night" theme is excellent, it's now quite similar to the Amazon Prime Video app. I've used IMDb as long as I can remember. I'm glad to see more of the previously desktop specific features being implemented here. I've always preferred IMDb over Rotton Tomatoes for many reasons. IMDb has a professional side which serves as a sort of LinkedIn for filmmakers. I'd like to see IMDb Pro become more affordable, as it is something more people should use. It's an invaluable resource for productions in regards to casting (actors, Star Meter does actually effect casting decisions) and helps screen crew. I'd like to see more integration with Prime Video. I use IMDb when deciding what to watch, and I think it'd be useful to have more crossover between apps. One suggestion: think about syncing watchlists between apps. And maybe a notification (or separate section) when watchlisted films become available on Amazon Prime Video. On IMDb, I have 2,500+ movies on my watchlist, but I'd like to see that synched to Prime.
