About this app

The Omnipod® 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System is the only FDA cleared, tubeless automated insulin delivery system that integrates with Dexcom G6 and G7 CGM and automatically adjusts insulin delivery to manage blood glucose with no multiple daily injections and zero fingersticks*.

Simple and automated insulin delivery with the Omnipod 5 System is made possible with the tubeless Omnipod 5 Pod, the integrated Dexcom G6 and G7 continuous glucose monitoring systems and the Omnipod 5 App installed on an Insulet-provided controller or on your personal compatible smart phone**.

The Omnipod 5 App allows you to select a basal profile, target glucose and bolus settings, activate and deactivate the Pod, connect with the Dexcom G6 and G7 Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems, and select an insulin delivery mode.

Intended Use:

The Omnipod 5 App is part of the Omnipod 5 Automated Insulin Delivery System. The Omnipod 5 System is for prescription use only. The Omnipod 5 System is indicated for use by individuals with Type 1 diabetes mellitus in persons 2 years of age and older. The Omnipod 5 System is intended for single patient, home use and requires a prescription. The Omnipod 5 System is compatible with the following U-100 insulins: NovoLog®, Humalog®, and Admelog®.

This app was working okay, until it wasn't. All of a sudden in the last 2 weeks I've had to start restarting my phone every couple of hours just to get the pod to communicate with my cgm today. Nothing will connect. Nothing has changed. I'm using the same cgm that I had on when I first put my pod on 2 days ago. Today, I was on the phone with omnipod for over an hour. They were great, but their solution? they're sending me a new pdm!! I liked the convenience of having the app on my phone.

The alarms are obsene. They are loud enough to cause a car crash on the highway. The alarms are not adjustable and they repeat multiple times. It is convenient to be able to use one device to monitor the cgm an insulin pump. The automatic mode doesn't keep up with blood sugar if conservative or miss a bolus, and automatic mode seems to overides what has been entered for basal settings.

so much potential This app is awesome, when it works! I have Samsung phone and the endless updates is something the app cannot keep up with. Even updates for improved security. I have to restart my phone every hour. I had to go back to PDM once before and I guess I'll do it again. The PDM is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to see in sunlight and yes, it's July. so much potential here, but Omnipod can't or won't keep up.
