About this app

BatterLog turns your kitchen into a personal test kitchen where every tweak and substitution deserves its own entry. The app feels like a well‑worn notebook resting on a flour‑dusted cutting board, ready to capture recipe name, variation, date, and a simple 1‑to‑5 taste rating. You begin on a dashboard that shows your total number of experiments and average rating handwritten in thick grease pencil on a stained recipe card pinned with a wooden clothespin. Right below the card, the three most recent experiments appear as tiny glass test tubes nestled in a wooden rack, their liquid glowing gold for top scores, amber for middle ratings, or cloudy grey for disappointing outcomes. Tapping any test tube takes you straight to that experiment’s detail view so you can revisit your notes immediately. The All Tests tab lays out every entry as an index card stamped with a colored drop, giving you a scrollable chronicle of your kitchen investigations. When you only want to revisit the wins, the Top Rated tab filters the collection to show every experiment rated four or five stars using that same card style. Creating a new experiment or editing an existing one happens on a clean form where you fill in the base recipe name, describe your variation, pick the date, and select your taste rating before saving. Everything you record stays private and instantly available because BatterLog stores all your experiments locally on your device without needing an account or internet connection. Swipe to delete any entry you no longer need, keeping your log as tidy or as sprawling as you like. Navigation sits at the bottom as four metal spice tins labeled Paprika, Cinnamon, Turmeric, and Rosemary, with the active tin showing a gently lifted lid and a faint aromatic swirl of steam. This thoughtful design invites you to treat each batch, loaf, or sauce like a proper experiment, making it effortless to remember exactly what you changed and whether it worked. Whether you are adjusting sourdough hydration, swapping spices in a curry, or testing a new frosting technique, BatterLog helps you build a personal library of proven tweaks. Over time, your collection of experiments becomes a trusted reference that lets you repeat successes and avoid past mistakes with confidence.
