I love the quality of the product itself, bright bulbs and beautiful colours. The app is well designed, and easy to use. I love having my lights turning on automatically at sunset (location based) One thing though I wasn't able to do is having the lights turning off at sunrise.. For whatever reason, even if initially it shows up the right location, I end up having them shutting down sometime after midnight, and the location is always pointing somewhere over the Atlantic.
I spent a ton of money on bulbs. They used to work on local wi-fi and when I logged on remotely. After the update I lose bulbs randomly. Some work, some vanish. Sometimes I can add them back, sometimes I can't. It is not all bulbs, only some and never the same ones. Sometimes it tells me location services needs to be on when it is on. Sometimes it only works with WiFi on. Sometimes only with WiFi off. I'm not technically challenged. It is something. I reset all bulbs and reinstalled them multiple times. Then the entire things starts again. Sucks.
The app is unnecessarily complicated and every time I add a light it adds it to a new location even after I change all the lights manually in the app individually to one location, the app just changes them back to separate locations upon restart. Its very frustrating regret buying these light just because the app is very inconsistent. Perhaps a simpler app would help.
The integration with Google Home is terrible. I bought the bulbs with my Home, and they worked fine for the first couple of days. Now everything has ceased to function out of nowhere. I've gotten in touch with Google support, and they seem to be clueless as to why this would happen. I've reset the lights, reinstalled Google Home and Lifx apps, re-added the lights to both, re-authorized the LIFX account, reset my Google Home... Google Home just says "Sorry an error occurred and I am unable to control your home device". Any ideas aside from the standard "did you try turning it off and on again?" rhetoric?
Sometimes for no apparent reason bulb goes off-line and even after rebooting everything still can't get back online. Great idea but just cannot be relied upon.
Worst app ever! I have had nothing but issues and if you go to their support page and submit an issue it takes forever for them to respond. When they do decide to respond it's a crazy request like checking the log files on your router and check log files from your app. It's really just a disgusting process!!
We've been improving the effects to support the LIFX Z better, simplified the Color Cycle effect so it easier to use and added some extra settings to some of the effects. Improvements to the Music Visualiser effect will be coming soon, we agree it needs work. We've fixed a range of bugs on the control screens and fixed up an issue with White 800 onboarding.
