Excellent listening practice This is an easy app to use. The best thing about it is that the speakers talk at normal speed. That makes it harder at the beginning, but more useful in the long run.
All in all a good app for people who love to learn language by reading and listening. It's so great to have a huge library of foreign language texts and lessons in your pocket all the time. I think it would be great to have better audio quality when using slow speed, normally it is easily fixed by being able to choose e.g. 0.7x instead of 0.5x. The flashcards could work more like ANKI, but to be honest, I have almost stopped using flashcards because I have found the lingq way so effective and useful, though it requires something like 30-60 minutes every day to really work.
Dissapointing For the life of me i cannot get the method of learning understood with this frustrating app. Firstly signing up to the website will get you unindated with emails you don't need. But this is flawed regarding the method. One can listen and read but not seeing the english translation underneath these new words lingq's means i have to stop each sentence and look up the meaning of lots of words. It interuppts the flow of learning! I use all apps currently available and many paid programs. This i do not use!!
To many bugs After 2 items, the 3rd wasn't able to show the text; when I connect earphone, it starts playing but I can't turn it off (need to kill it);daily lingqs syncs with server inproperly - so this app makes me always use web instead of it. Very poor quality of this app, and it's sad a bit for such a great system like lingq language learning system.
The application core idea is not usable. I can only add new "LingQs", but cannot review them later. After adding the maximum allowed LingQ's and accessing the "Daily LingQs" screen I get an empty list and a message suggesting me to "first(?), create some LingQs!". Also I keep getting notifications that my LingQs are ready for review, passing me to the previous mentioned screen with the same idiotic message. Not sure if it is a bug or a really bad UX design.
No one else does it. While some pages need a refresh to load, and I'm not entirely sold on the whole "user hints" (because some of them use the dreaded Romaji uuuuo scary!) The fact of the matter is lingq provides me with reading material and translations AND audio all in one app. The only thing close would be the Core10000 w/audio on Anki. If my dream is to read Japanese as well as I read Englishー Im gonna need to hit the books, however books don't provide on the spot translation and audio. ;) So Lingq wins my time.
