About this app

Inspired by the Korg Kaossilator and the Moog synthesizer, Saucillator transforms mobile devices into a platform for creating and playing digital synthesizers. It uses the touchscreen to manipulate oscillators and effects, and it also allows for live-looping and recording.

Users are able to play custom synthesizers using the x-y axes of the touchscreen. The x-axis corresponds to amplitude (volume) and the y-axis corresponds to frequency (pitch). Playback can also be looped, recorded, and EQed using a Parametric EQ.

On top of performing, Users are able to create their own custom synthesizers, which consist of a custom timbre and user-defined effects. A small variety of timbres are included: Sine, Square, Saw, Pulse, Noise (white)*, Theremin, "Singing Saw", "Electric Eel", and "Starslide." These, as well as any user-created synths, can be mixed and matched at different harmonics, amplitudes, and phases to create custom sounds.

Each synth has customizable fx parameters as well, including Envelope (ADSR - attack & release), LFO (rate & depth), Delay (rate & decay), and Note Lag.

Other abilities:
-Choose scale: Pentatonic, Major, Minor, Blues, or Chromatic
-Choose the base note for the pad.
-Control the grid size.
-Record to the SD card.
-Toggle visualizations. More to come here.

Notes:
*I fully intend to make noise scale with frequency and actually become useful (e.g. "Red" Noise).

Permissions Needed:
- SD card access: for saving instruments and recordings.
- Vibration: For haptic feedback.

Special thanks to Garrett Langley (http://dribbble.com/glangley) for helping with design and general usability.

Awesome app! Very fun to play around with. Could use a little work with fine tuning the hit boxes on buttons and dials, to make them easier to hit (or miss). Otherwise, this is a pretty great synthesizer, with a simple design that gets the job done well. Thank you, developer :-)

I love how this app works but the bitrate of my recordings are horrible and I have no way to change it without it sounding horrible... is there a way to change the amount of bits, 8, 16, 32, as well as frequency, 22k, 44k, 48k, stuff like that... I did an improvised set and it was great but I can't recreate it

Even though it's not perfect, all things considered, this is the best app of its type. I've tried them all but yet to find one to match this. Sounds great, plenty of peramiters to change to make unique sounds. It has a proper record feature, not record through device mic! It's ridiculous the amount of storage it uses... Not even 1MB! 660KB I think. It has a nice looper feature. The layout is nice. It's easy to understand. Just a little static being picked up here & there. It is a nuisance. Fix?

What's new

- Fixes issues with saving/loading synths
- Fixes issues with saving recordings
- Adds new "settings" tab since the old android settings menu is no longer visible
- Provide a tool for importing old synths.

Note: due to android changes, if you have already created synths saved to your device, they may no longer be available! Please use the settings tab to re-import those into the app. Apologies for the issues. Feel free to reach out to support and I can help if needed.
