About this app

YourSnitch is a simple, on-device privacy watchdog. It tells you when your camera or microphone are switched on and which app switched them on, and it shows you which countries your device's connections reach — all without sending anything off your phone.

WHAT IT DOES
• Camera & mic monitor — the moment an app uses your camera or microphone, YourSnitch names the app and logs the time, with a live status you can glance at.
• Connection monitor — using a local, on-device VPN, it inspects DNS lookups to show the domains and the countries your apps connect to. Your traffic is NOT routed through any outside server.
• Recent history — a short, on-device list of recent camera/mic events and connections that you can clear at any time.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account, no cloud, no servers, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
• Everything is processed on your device. Nothing you see is uploaded to us — we have no way to receive it.

HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS
YourSnitch is a monitor and alerter. It does not block or fake camera/mic access, and it never opens the camera or microphone itself — it only tells you what is happening so you can decide what to do.

WHY IT NEEDS ITS PERMISSIONS
• Usage Access — to name which app is in the foreground when the camera/mic turn on.
• VPN (local) — to inspect DNS lookups for the connection monitor. No traffic is proxied to us.
• See installed apps — to show the correct name/icon of any app that uses a sensor.
• Notifications, run in background, run at boot — to keep monitoring reliably.
