The Smart Water Meter Reader is an innovative mobile app that automates water meter readings through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. Developed using Flutter for the mobile interface and Node.js with a Microsoft SQL Server backend, the app simplifies the process of capturing meter readings, minimizing human errors and enhancing accuracy.
Users can scan water meters, with the app automatically extracting the reading and sending it to a central server along with an image, timestamp, and the geographical coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the location. This automation reduces the need for manual data entry and ensures prompt, accurate reporting for industries. Currently, over 1,200 businesses registered with the Industrial Water Resource Department rely on this app for effective water meter management.
With this application, users enjoy benefits such as reduced labor, timely data submission, and improved accuracy, aiding decision-making for both industries and the department.
