Dipstick is a straightforward vehicle maintenance log that lives in your pocket, ready whenever you pop the hood. It helps you document oil changes, tire rotations, brake jobs, and any other repair or service with the same ease as scribbling on a greasy mechanic's clipboard. Every entry captures the essential details: your current odometer reading, a short description of the work done, the date it was completed, and any extra notes like part numbers or fluid specs. Adding a new record is simple through a clean form, where a silver socket wrench sits at the bottom as your save button. A built-in date picker and required mileage field keep your log accurate without any fuss. All your service history is stored locally on your device, so you can access your records anytime, even when you’re in a garage with no signal. The Dashboard welcomes you with a pair of stamped metal tags hanging from a clipboard ring, showing exactly how many services you logged this month and your total lifetime records. A bent paperclip marked with a plus sign sits right on the paper, letting you jump to the add screen in a single tap. You’ll also see a stack of the three most recent service slips, each curled slightly and stamped with a small red oil-can seal when that job is finished. The Log tab unfolds all your entries in a scrolling paper list, where every row displays mileage, service type, and date, and a swipe left lets you delete an entry while a tap opens it for editing. That same red oil-can stamp appears in the corner of every completed service, never a checkmark, giving your log the authentic feel of a wax seal on a job well done. The Search tab pins a search bar at the top, and as you type, the list filters instantly and highlights matching text with a faint grease-pencil underline. If no services match your search, a small oil drip illustration and a friendly message point you in the right direction. Navigating through the app feels like handling a well-organized workbench, with a bottom tab bar made of four dark steel hex nuts, each carved with a distinct symbol, and the active nut catches a subtle oily sheen.
