It got slow after the latest updates. The previous versions read the card immediately at the moment the card was tapped on the phone. Now, it's necessary to open the app and 2 clicks to finally get to tap the card and check the balance. Besides, the app takes longer to fully open after these updates.

If I could give this app and Octopus zero stars I would. Disorganised app that doesn't offer any useful functionality except to top up which is so much easier via Google Wallet anyway. On top of that, this is a technology offering but in order to activate automatic add value, you have to (get this) 1) CALL Octopus' service hotline, 2) get a PHYSICAL form, 3) MAIL the form in to be approved. This typifies so many HK businesses, totally clueless. And this is a huge company in HK too.

The high battery drain problem was found to be related the large number of image files stored on the device. Although the battery monitor reported Octopus App as the drain source, reduced the number of image files seemed to have solved the problem.
