About this app

Make regular CW practice more enjoyable while improving your receiving and sending. Hear CW, copy it correctly and burst the balloons before they pile up, or switch to sending practice. As you move up the levels, the speed increases and more balloons join the challenge.

Practise single characters, character groups, words or callsigns. Choose A-Z for character and group practice without switching keyboard layouts, or Mixed to include numbers and punctuation. Set your starting level and work on your speed and accuracy.

In LISTEN mode, copy by ear and type what you hear. For sending practice, key the characters, groups, words or callsigns with the on-screen paddle or your own paddle connected through an OpenShack Box.

Build a streak, catch the bonus balloons and try to beat your personal best. If you want to compare with other operators, publish your score under your callsign to the OpenShack leaderboards. A-Z and Mixed have separate character categories. You decide whether to publish each score, be asked after a run, or enable automatic publishing.

Practice works offline; no OpenShack account is required. Internet access is needed for online scores, Network Box connections and website links. Settings and personal bests stay on your device.

The OpenShack Box is optional and sold separately. USB connection requires USB host support and a suitable cable or adapter.

What’s new

Connect a compatible OpenShack A1S Box over Bluetooth Low Energy for CW practice. Reconnect to your remembered Box, or change and disconnect it from Settings. USB and network connections remain available. Open other OpenShack apps from About and bring your Trainer character set into Balloon Burst. Improved device compatibility keeps Box hardware optional.
