About this app

Operate your OpenShack-enabled amateur-radio station from an Android phone or tablet. Listen to the receiver, tune across the bands and use the familiar WebRemote controls. The station connection and receiver audio stay active when you switch to another app or lock the screen.

Requires a radio station running OpenShack Host software and valid station access credentials. This app is the remote-control client; it does not include the station-side software or radio equipment. Learn about OpenShack and setting up your station at https://openshack.com.

RADIO CONTROL

- View and tune VFO A and VFO B with frequency readback from the radio
- Change bands, modes, filters, split, RIT, XIT, power, and supported rig functions
- Inspect signal level, connection route, endpoint details, WebRTC quality, and RTT
- Use a responsive spectrum and waterfall with DX Cluster spots and click-to-QSY
- Control supported rotators, antennas, amplifiers, tuners, and station accessories

AUDIO, VOICE, AND CW

- Keep listening to receiver audio while another app is open or the screen is locked
- Select available Android input and output routes
- Use guarded push-to-talk and the digital voice keyer when your station permits it
- Send CW text macros or connect a compatible OpenShack Box
- Use a supported CP210x USB Box, Network Box route, or Bluetooth VFO knob

BUILT FOR REMOTE OPERATION

- Encrypted local storage for remembered station credentials on Android
- Direct peer-to-peer WebRTC when possible, with relay fallback when needed
- Automatic reconnect and a persistent notification for an active background session
- No advertising and no behavioural analytics SDK
- Website, manual and version information in the About tab

REQUIREMENTS

OpenShack Remote is a client, not a public receiver directory. It requires access credentials for a compatible OpenShack/DTM station that you or your station administrator operate. Some controls appear only when the connected radio and host advertise support. USB Box support requires Android USB host capability and a compatible Silicon Labs CP210x device.

Station equipment, the optional OpenShack Box and any required host software are not included. One app purchase, no app subscription. The app interface is English.

Transmit only where you are licensed and authorised to do so. The operator remains responsible for station safety, applicable radio regulations, and the connected equipment.
Control your OpenShack station and keep listening to RX audio in the background.

What’s new

Remote now remembers the last selected host when you reopen the app. New or temporary station stays selected too. Loading saved hosts no longer overwrites fields you are editing.
