CyberTarcza Go uses the Android system’s VpnService to enable the Network Protection feature. The VPN connection is created locally on your device — it is used solely to check DNS queries (website addresses your phone connects to) and block those leading to dangerous domains from the CERT Orange database. This connection does not redirect your internet traffic through an external server, does not change your IP address, and does not monitor or record the websites you visit. Only DNS queries necessary for threat detection and blocking are processed. All other internet traffic follows the standard, unaltered path. This way, CyberTarcza Go protects you from dangerous websites opened in any app — including browsers, links in messages, or social media.
CyberTarcza Go also uses the Android AccessibilityService to enable two protective functions:
Browser protection — the app reads URLs displayed in the browser’s address bar (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Samsung Internet) and checks them against the CERT Orange threat database. If a dangerous site is detected, access is blocked, and the user receives a notification.
Message protection — the app scans SMS content and messages in messaging apps (e.g., Google Messages, WhatsApp, Samsung Messages) to detect malicious links and phishing attempts. The message content is encrypted and sent to Orange Polska’s security server solely for threat analysis — it is not used for advertising purposes or shared with third parties.
The app does not read passwords, payment card data, or any other private content. The Accessibility permission is used only for the protection functions described above. Users are informed about the scope of the service and must consent before activating the permission. It can be disabled at any time in Android system settings, which will deactivate the Browser Protection and Message Protection features.
The CyberTarcza Go service is provided by Orange Polska S.A. in cooperation with SafeKiddo sp. z o.o.
