NOT A GOVERNMENT APP — PLEASE READ
PHCIS is an independent, unofficial app published by WiZmed (Pty) Ltd, a private company. It does not represent a government entity. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised by the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness, the National Department of Health, or any other South African government body. It does not provide, facilitate, replace or give access to any government service.
The app publishes no government information of its own and contains no public health content. It is simply a client for staff who already hold their own credentials for a health information system. That system remains the authoritative source of everything shown, and the app displays only what the signed-in person's own role already permits. Without valid credentials issued to you by your employer, the app shows nothing.
OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT SOURCES
For official health information, always refer to the government's own websites:

• National Department of Health — https://www.health.gov.za

ABOUT THE APP
PHCIS is a secure companion for clinical staff who work with a primary health care information system. It brings the lookups you do all day onto your phone. Sign in with the credentials issued to you. There is no separate account to create and no new password to remember — your details are verified by the health system itself, and what you can see and change in the app is exactly what your own role allows.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Patient hub — everything on file for one patient from a single folder number: demographics, folder movement, record history, admissions, episodes, clinic visits, allergies and linked labs.
• Search — find a patient when the folder number is wrong, partial or unknown.
• Ward census — who is on a ward right now.
• Find patient — which ward a patient is on, always shown with when that list was last updated.
• Clinical record — episodes, encounters, tests, TB and HIV history, allergies and problems.
• Admissions — a patient's current admission and history, or a facility-wide admission list.
• Maternity — deliveries, infant detail and antenatal consultations.
• Appointments — clinic profiles and day summaries.
• TB / DOTS — register, suspects and treatment coverage.
• Register a patient who is not yet on the system.
• Facility and staff — wards, clinics, satellites, staff and facility statistics.
• Reports — consultation, treatment, patient-flow and TB reports.
• Reference lists — wards, specialties, discharge destinations and other standard code lists.
• Folder and records — where a physical file is, and what changed on a patient's details.
CAREFUL BY DESIGN
Every change is previewed before it runs. You see exactly what will be sent, and anything beyond a routine update has to be confirmed in full before it is applied.
PRIVACY
Your password is verified by the health system itself and is never stored anywhere but this device's keystore. No patient information is stored on the device.
REQUIREMENTS
Valid credentials for a supported health information system, and a network connection.
