About this app

Worried your gold or silver coin might be fake? Counterfeit coins fool even experienced dealers — but they can't fake the sound.

Pingcoin uses acoustic analysis to verify coins in seconds. Just tap your coin, record the ring, and get an instant verdict.

✓ Results in seconds — faster than any other test
✓ See exactly why a coin passes or fails
✓ 37 coins supported, more added regularly

HOW THE PING TEST WORKS

Genuine coins produce characteristic resonance frequencies based on their metal composition, size, density, and stiffness. Gold rings differently than tungsten. Silver rings differently than copper-nickel. Pingcoin analyzes these frequencies and compares them against verified reference values.

If the frequencies match — your coin is almost certainly genuine. If they don't — you may have a fake.

TRANSPARENT RESULTS

Unlike other apps, Pingcoin shows you the resonance tolerance for each coin. You see your coin's measured frequencies, the expected range, and exactly how close the match is. No black box — just clear, visual verification you can trust.

SUPPORTED COINS

Gold (14): Krugerrand, American Eagle, Canadian Maple Leaf, Britannia, Kangaroo, Chinese Panda, Austrian Corona, and more

Silver (23): American Eagle, Morgan Dollar, Peace Dollar, Maple Leaf, Britannia, Kookaburra, Philharmonic, Mexican Libertad, and more

WHY TRUST THE PING TEST?

The ping test has been used by coin dealers for over a century. Pingcoin brings scientific precision to this traditional method using FFT frequency analysis — the same technology used in music apps and audio engineering.

Pro tip: Combine the ping test with weight and visual inspection for maximum confidence.

App is clean and easy to use, gives you the data right then and there with no hoops to jump through or clutter. The developer is very responsive and insightful. I highly recommend this app and the generic silver feature is really wonderful for those random coins we always have a few of. Also practice pinging a coin before if you need, I balance on my index finger and lightly tap the edge with a sturdy plastic pen.

used to be free and accurate. now, can't authenticate any legitimate coin, forcing you to pay to upgrade for accurate results. used to rely on it, now just terrible AND they want you to pay for it Edit: nice canned response, developer. doesnt change the fact that the app won't accurately detect unless you pay (which is actually zero free pings), and it may be a small price to pay, but why should I pay it to you? Edit: except it isn't improving and you're asking too much.

Thanks for the feedback, Adam. To clarify for anyone reading: The app includes 10 free pings/month and inconclusive verdicts are always free. Free and premium use the same analysis engine — no difference. The subscription funds ongoing development and quick support (reach out at jessems@gmail.com any time)

kind of ok but to get a second ping on a known coin I got to go back to the selection to go in again and reactivate the scan feature due to the reping or rescan or whatever that bottom button says is hidden behind android control tools buttons. The android bar on the bottom is over top of it. I can see it faded looking but can't use it. MOVE THE REPING BUTTON UP. There is zero reason to have it so low.
