Prudence Screen Reader is an accessibility tool, for helping blind, visually impaired and other people to lead independent lives by making android phones easier to access. With perfect screen reading function and multiple ways of interface, such as gesture touch.

Prudence Screen Reader includes:
1.Main function as a screen reader: Get spoken feedback, control your device with gestures, and type with the on-screen keyboard
2.Accessibility Menu shortcut: To direct to the System Accessibility Menu on one click
3.Touch to speak: Touch on your screen and hear the app read the items aloud
4.Customize Voice Libraries: Choose the voice you like to hear as feedback.
5.Custom gesture: Define the actions with desired gestures as the actions
6.Customize Reading control: Define how the reader reads the text, e.g., line by line, word by word, character by character, and etc.
7.Level of detail: Define what detail the reader reads, such as element type, window title, etc.
8.OCR Recognition: Includes screen recognition and OCR focus recognition, supporting multiple languages.
9.Voice Input: You can activate PSR's voice input function using a shortcut gesture, no longer relying on the keyboard's voice input.
10.Tag Management: The tag management feature allows users to edit, modify, delete, import, export, and back up/restore named tags.
11.Speedy Mode: Enabling Speedy Mode significantly improves PSR's operational smoothness, especially on low-end devices.
12.Feedback Feature: You can share your thoughts and feedback directly with the PSR development team within the app.

To get started:
1. Open your device’s Settings app
2. Select Accessibility
3. Select Accessibility Menu, installed apps, then choose “Prudence Screen Reader”

Permission Notice
Phone: Prudence Screen Reader observes the phone state so it can adapt announcements to your call status, your phone battery percentage, screen lock state, Internet status, and etc.
Accessibility Service: Because Prudence Screen Reader is an accessibility service, it can observe your actions, retrieve window content, and observe the text that you type. It need to use your Accessibility Service Permission to achieve screen reading, notes, voice feedbacks, and other essential accessibility functions.
Some of the functions of Prudence Screen Reader may require the permissions of your phone to work. You can choose to grant the permission or not. If not, the specific function will not be able to work but the others remains executable
android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE
Prudence Screen Reader uses th permission to check if your phone has an incoming call, so that it can read the number of the phone call receiving.
android.permission.ANSWER_PHONE_CALLS
The reader uses the permission to help users answer the phone with a more convenient, shortcut guesture.

Ratings and reviews

the screen reader itself is great. the only issue i am finding, is that some of the items when you're trying to change gestures, are not spoken in english at this time. also, a way to add your own different customizable sound schemes, would be absolutely lovely. bluetooth keyboard support i'm sure will be in the works, but i'm just glad that it's back on the play store after it disappearing for a while.

Prudence Screen Reader is a very good and fast screen reader. However, there are two main issues that should be solved to improve its performance. First, there is a focus issue — sometimes the focus gets stuck and doesn’t move forward properly. Second, even when the screen is turned off, the battery continues to drain if Prudence is running. Kindly fix these issues and release an update soon so that more users can benefit from this screen reader. Thank you.

I really like this screen reader, it is much better in terms of it's features than TalkBack. I would suggest adding native Braille support to the screen reader since when using a third party Braille keyboard such as Advanced Braille Keyboard, you still need to have a built in keyboard enabled to unlock after a reboot. I would also like to see Actions listed in the three finger swipe up and down list like TalkBack.
