About this app

Punyo is a small, quiet corner of your day.

The name Punyo comes from puṇya, Sanskrit for merit - the good that gathers from very small acts of kindness. That is all this app is here to give you.

In the middle of a noisy day, you stop for a few minutes. Tap the wooden fish a few times. Light a stick of incense. Offer a flower. Small gestures, done and finished, and you feel a little lighter.

TAP THE WOODEN FISH - LET YOUR MIND SETTLE
Touch the fish, hear the knock, and let it bring you back to right now. Every knock brings a wish - peace, health, ease, rest. Turn on auto-tap if you would rather just sit and listen. No countdown, nobody telling you when to stop.

GOOD DEED TODAY - WRITE DOWN ONE SMALL KINDNESS
What good did you do today, or what are you grateful for? Write it down in a line. Nothing grand is needed - a kind word, a helping hand, a thankful thought is enough. What you write stays on your phone and is never sent anywhere.

OFFER INCENSE - IT KEEPS BURNING WHILE YOU ARE AWAY
Light a stick and go about your day. It burns for four hours, gathering merit as it goes, and Punyo reminds you when it is ready to collect. You can set a photo behind the incense - someone you love, perhaps - and that photo stays on your phone and is never sent anywhere.

FLOWERS AND RELEASING
A flower once a day. A fish let back into the water. Two gentle gestures, done and finished.

A NUDGE BEFORE EVERY FASTING DAY
Punyo reminds you the evening before, so a fasting day does not slip past while you are busy. Mark the days you eat vegetarian, and see how far away the next fasting day is.

Fasting days follow the region you choose, so the new moon, the full moon or uposatha are right for where you are. On the new moon, the full moon and major days, tapping, incense, flowers and releasing all count double.

SEE HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME
This month's merit next to last month's. Your best month. Milestones at 1,000, 10,000 and 100,000 along the way.

LIGHT FROM THE START
• No account, no sign-up, no email - open it and it works
• Free, with no in-app purchases
• Light and dark themes

Punyo is a relaxation app inspired by Buddhist imagery. It's made for unwinding - it doesn't promise real-world merit, and it doesn't tell fortunes.
