I want to assume this is a good app, but I can't use it. I downloaded this app because as a Canadian, I studied French up until high school, but I dropped it since then. I wanted to get back into it through some nice Canadian content, however because I live outside of Canada right now I cannot do that. The videos are "not available in my region". I mean, I get it because it's CBC, but maybe you could make your own content available within your own app. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for your message. It is impossible to make Mauril available outside of Canada because of the copyrights associated with the content on the platform. The learning approach with Mauril is centered around authentic television and audio content. The rights associated with this content are limited for the most part for use in Canada only.

Placement test is way off. Boring. Doesn't seem very useful to learn French unless you already understand the the spoken French Quebecois! Compare that to an App like Yabla, where one can watch interesting clips, have the option to show subtitles in French, English or both, can easily change the play speed, play games, filter through clips using many criteria, etc.

This app is really helpful and designed well! It's very easy to navigate. You test into a French comprehension level and then need to pass multiple quizzes to get through each level. Quizzes consist of questions based on a small segment from Radio-Canada's programming. This app is a great resource for understanding the Quebec accent/cadence. I would not rely solely on this app to learn French but it's an absolutely great supplement if you're trying to learn the language.

Thank you for your nice comment. Your description is accurate, just take your placement test and complete the units in order to unlock them. More units will be added over the coming months. Thanks again and best regards!
