About this app

A phone. A cold case. The truth is buried somewhere in between.

ColdTrace puts you inside a real investigation, or at least, it feels that way. Navigate a stranger's phone, piece together the timeline, and decide: was it really an accident?

AN IMMERSIVE FICTIONAL EXPERIENCE
• Explore a fully simulated phone interface: messages, photos, notes, voicemails
• Uncover a layered narrative where every clue matters
• Multiple threads to follow, one truth to uncover

FEEL THE TENSION
The line between player and investigator blurs. You're not watching the story unfold, you're living it. Every deleted file, every text thread, every timestamp brings you closer to the answer.

YOUR INVESTIGATION, YOUR PACE
ColdTrace is not a passive experience. What you read, what you dig into, and when, it all shapes your understanding of what happened.

For fans of interactive fiction, true crime podcasts, and crime documentaries who want to go deeper.

ColdTrace is a fictional narrative experience. All characters and events are entirely invented.

Note: Some chapters require a Premium unlock.

Some investigations are available for free, while the complete experience can be unlocked through an in-app purchase.

Questions basically lead the whole investigation, so you're not uncovering anything. The clues also come with direct clues from "your" assumptions that also make it that much easier. The photos are highly (if not fully) AI generated and are inconsistent with the characters as well as angles (in the first case, a photo of a suspected stalker is taken from an impossible angle with Noor running in the background), same with voice notes and likely some of the text. Okay as free, not worth paying.

Thanks! On Android you can keep playing for free by watching ads, or subscribe to go ad-free. And new cases land by the end of this week.

really fun app! Sooooooo fun to play and really interesting. Only thing is is that when you don't pay for it, you have ads thrown at you all the time, and they are each about a minute long at a time. Would be much more enjoyable if the amount of ads was cut down a bit. Still, aside from that I love it!

The game was really interesting and fun, but it doesn't even let you get through the whole first case before they want you to sign up for your subscription. You can only get to question number 4 out of 21. It would've been nice to be able to make it through the whole case before you decide. It won't let you do a 3 day free trial either. It wants you to pay up front.
