About this app

ZapFile sends photos, videos, and files straight from your phone to a friend's phone. No uploading to a cloud, no links that expire, no digging through email attachments — just pick a friend, pick your files, and zap them across.

Most "file sharing" apps quietly upload your files to someone else's server and hand your friend a download link. ZapFile doesn't. Your devices talk to each other directly, so your files take the shortest possible path: from your hand to theirs.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Pair once — add a friend by scanning the QR code on their screen, or by typing their short pairing code. Sharing a code in person is the whole handshake: no phone numbers, no contact uploads, no searching public directories.
2. Send anytime — from then on your friend is one tap away. Choose them, pick your files, and the transfer starts as soon as they accept.
3. Files arrive ready to use — photos and videos can save straight to the gallery, documents to Downloads, and anything can be opened or shared on the spot.

WHY ZAPFILE

⚡ DIRECT DEVICE-TO-DEVICE — transfers travel peer-to-peer over an encrypted WebRTC connection. Your files never sit on a server, and there's no middleman throttling your speed.

🔒 PRIVATE BY DESIGN — every transfer is encrypted in transit (DTLS). When a direct connection isn't possible — strict networks, carrier firewalls — an encrypted relay steps in automatically so your transfer still completes. Even then, data is passed through memory only: never stored, never logged, never inspected.

👥 FRIENDS ONLY — nothing about ZapFile is public. There's no discovery feed, no nearby-strangers list, no way for anyone you haven't deliberately paired with to send you anything. No spam, ever.

✅ YOU'RE ALWAYS IN CONTROL — every incoming transfer must be accepted before a single byte moves. Decline anything you don't want with one tap.

📲 REAL NOTIFICATIONS — get a push notification the moment a friend wants to send you something, even when the app is closed. See who's online before you send.

🖼️ LANDS WHERE YOU EXPECT — received photos and videos go to your gallery, files to your Downloads folder, and everything can be opened, shared, or re-sent immediately.

📜 TRANSFER HISTORY — a clean record of what you've sent and received, with whom, and when — including what saved where.

🚫 NO ADS, NO TRACKING — we don't sell data, show ads, or run analytics on your behavior. ZapFile stores only what it needs to function: your email, display name, device name, and transfer records (file names and sizes — never file contents).

PERFECT FOR

• Getting last night's photos and videos to a friend at full quality — no compression, no chat-app downscaling
• Moving documents between your phone and a family member's without a cable
• Sharing large videos that messaging apps refuse to send
• Anyone who'd rather their personal files didn't take a detour through a stranger's server

GOOD TO KNOW

• Works over WiFi and mobile data — the two phones don't need to be on the same network, or even in the same city
• Transfers show live progress on both sides
• Your friend sees your display name, not your email
• Delete your account and every trace of your data anytime, right from the app — or at zapfile-backend.onrender.com/delete-account

PERMISSIONS, EXPLAINED

• Camera — used only to scan a friend's pairing QR code; nothing is captured or stored
• Photos & media — used only to pick files you send and save files you receive
• Notifications — used only to alert you about transfers addressed to you
