This combination of programmable robot and logical, intuitive app provides children a gentle introduction to programming and challenges their imagination to come up with new and exciting ways to make the Sphero do their bidding. As the child's skills develop, they can progress from dragging blocks to typing code in at the keyboard. Our SPRK+ hasn't even been out of its packaging for a full day yet, but the device's potential as a learning tool is already very clear.
This product is a daim disappointment. I got it for my daughter for chrismas and i am not even able to connect the daim ball to my phone and i am running it on a Samsung grand prime android version 5.1.1. I even tried it on a windows tablet in which the sphero website listed as a confirm device. The worse part is there is not instruction manual for first time users
EDIT: 1) I am running a Samsung G890A (S6 Active) running on Android 6.0.1. 2) The app typically crashes while pairing, reopening the app after a crash, and during loading screen. However, I was running the app without an account (Guest). I've recently made an account and I haven't run into any major problems yet. I don't know if that's related. UPDATE: still glitches occasionally. Things seem to be a lot smoother on iOS.
Great but please add... A sleep function. I'd like to take my sphero with me, use lightning lab and then put to sleep without carrying charger or starting up another app.
Great learning experience My child loves playing with me and this app, or should I say learning to code. What a fun educational way to work through learning to code. Fantastic tool that allows the BB-8 to be even more of a fantastic buy. I look forward to working with my child on coding and learning.
Now, there's the need to do some maintenance and UI cleanup, like in drive with landscape and also with keyboard open, and color picker brightness. Also, got logged out all of a sudden with error 401 when trying to login again. Only reinstall fixed it after even changing the password... Anyway, make the other apps connect to BLE Sheros. Found a workaround in your own API bug tracker comments, by a user. Never fixed in API itself. I call that slacking. Can't connect two robots, they drop out immediately. Examples still say only Ollie is BLE. If it'll be like that, stop pumping new BLE robots out while trying to sell the development part. It's like giving you a hand while cutting off the fingers. Not to mention the lack of decent documentation.
